RIAC Hires Marketing Manager

PENTAX - Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation Expands Team with Appointment of Brian McIntosh as Director of Marketing

Looks like they want to focus on online presence and communications with user community. If executed well, this change could be very good for Pentax in the U.S.

Stealing a line from Artie Johnson....."Very Interesting"

We really won't know what to do if Pentax starts advertising.

This might be a good time to impress upon the new guy our allegiance to the Pentax name. I suggest someone with some clout or gravitas get in touch with Mr. McIntosh post haste. I'm sure the moderators could draw on the enthusiasm, persuasiveness, and writing ability of the membership of Pentax Forums to drive home this point in a manner befitting our illustrious group!

I love the self-written self-descriptions of those in the business community. Most people would blush to write such things about themselves. Ah well, I hope he can actually help with Pentax's marketing in a positive way. I know what I'd tell him he ought to do first, but then I bet some here could guess.

All is developing as has been foretold.

I remain convinced Pentax under Hoya outsourced everything, including website design and maintenance, to a series of contract companies. This is the first of many steps (IMHO) to bring back in house many elements of the Americas Division sales, service and support functions. Such steps are part and parcel of the strategy to restore a modern Dealer Distribution Network that complements and thrives next to internet sales.

Monochrome,
I do hope this is part of the "plan." However, after just retiring from public education, the most useful white paper is "on the wall in the stall."

  • 3 dslr's* and lenses
  • 2 Q's, lenses and accessories
  • 1 professional 645 and lenses
  • Specialty compacts (WG and Ricoh GR)
  • Ricoh cameras as released
  • Compacts
  • Sport optics
  • Other good stuff that will soon be announced possibly beginning September 5th
    • Interesting timing on this hire, BTW
When viewed this way it really is an ambitious lineup - they just need volume in the developed world.

* at least
