wouldnt SDM have a larger focus ring that doesnt move when the lens focuses. That looks like a photoshop hack of a 16-45

Not sure, the DA14 isn't SDM but it ring doesn't turn at all, same goes for DFA's. So we can't conclude anything just yet.

Yeah, the red SDM looks nice.

Any price for it yet?

edit: on page 4, they seem to talk about 3500CNY ~ 320Eur, i don't know if it's for the DA17-70 though, the translation is not very good.

Don't all Petax SDM lenes work with the screwdrive? I know 3rd party lenses dont, but pentax should.

Isnt the 16-45 a single-cam design, while this lens looks like a dual-cam? Looks pretty legit to me!

Up to now yes! All DA* have both SDM and screwdrive AF. My fear is that Pentax is not going to repeat that with this 17-70. I don't care for SDM and on my ist D, if the lens does not have screwdrive type AF, it will become a manual focus lens only...

This looks real to me- the samples Pentax showed at PMA were also very smilar to the 16-45, and John Carlson has stated that it is replacing that lens, so if they can figure out how to use the same outer shell, why not?

btw: does the 16-45 have a center pinch cap? This one looks like it does.
