Yes, I was incorrect. DA Limited should ahve posted DA*. I realized that last night and forgot to come back and edit. My bad.

Back to the future: not a Limited lens but a very rare and sought after lens: Takumar 58mm f/2 from 1957 (M42 mount). It has a true Sonnar formula and, as far as I know, is the only standard prime for reflex to be a Sonnar. Its bokeh is superb.

A copy, together with an Asahi Pentax from 1957 as well, was just sold for USD530 on eBay: eBay | Asahi Pentax original (AP) with 58/2 Takumar

While offtopic: I'm glad to own that lens. Did it reach that amount because of my samples in the Takumar club topic??? :P

Thanks for posting the roadmaps all in one place, Asahiflex. Very interesting. I like the idea of a roadmap, but I can see how some people who have been waiting 5+ years for certain products (DA560, 1.4x TC) would be exasperated.

Interesting how some lenses initially labelled as DFA were then released as DA (60-250).

Seems to me that only lenses that have been developed and greenlighted for actual production within the next, say, 18-24 months should make an appearance on a roadmap to avoid disappointment among target customers...not that that's news to anyone.

I envy you, not only for this lens (which is not listed in your signature) but also for the Takumar 83mm f/1.9 (you happen to like Sonnars ) and, above all, the Macro Apo-Lanthar .

Pentax most expensive K-mount lens is "just" a DA.

I wonder if there's a reason why? That lens seem to fit all the definitions of a DA*, just like the DFA 100 fits almost all the descriptions of a limited.

Not quite all of them - the AF motor works!

Maybe it will be a HD DA Limited ZOOM instead of a DA* and they're holding their cards close to their vest.

The reason is plain and simple: Ricoh wants to get rid of the * designation. Good riddance, I'd say. The star is a nuisance in today's information age, where it's mainly used as a wildcard. Try searching for a star lens. It's just as much a big PITA as it was when Pentax called their cameras *ist. Now it's a good time to break with tradition and offer a new designation for high end lenses.

Well that takes all the fun out of it. Too logical and un-Pentaxy
