A couple of reviews of the new versions from ephotozine. Unfortunately, they don't compare new to old and mainly confirm what we know - that the limiteds are fine lenses.

Thanks for posting these

The new DA 35 looks like it has different bokeh from the old. Might be worth the update for people that didnt like the original's.

And although it's not visible in every shot, the magenta cast is still there I still blame the K-5

I'd like to see some sort of detailed comparison between the limited vs limited HD's.

Hard to tell if the bokeh is different - I looked at my shots but couldn't find a bokeh one at f8 to compare with that blue daisy flower shot. At f2.8 there shouldn't be any difference and yet the bokeh on that f2.8 gravestone picture looks worse than on any of my f2.8 shots

Doesn't that magenta cast bother the people who take these shots - or is it some new Lomo-like trend I'd missed ?

So I guess we have confirmation from you that the bokeh is different from the old DA 35 at 2.8. I don't actually own DA 35 but can always tell the bokeh shots from it because it's so distinctive. I guess which one you prefer will depend on your taste.

I have no experience with K-5 but with K-x I actually have a rather hard time removing the magenta cast sometimes. Although, in my neck of woods the sky actually is magenta at times, so I find it rather hard to judge if it's the really camera. I guess we'll have to wait until someone here gets it.

Here you go:

The HD limiteds have a RED ring

The DA limiteds have a GREEN one!

The End.

I will hopefully be sticking the HD21 on my K7 tomorrow. Then we can figure out if the magenta cast is related to the lens or the body.

I was thinking of getting a HD lens as well so I look forward to your results.

Do you think the ephotozine samples have magenta cast? I only see it in the graveyard shots, and that's typical of AWB under a lot of greenery.

The K-5 with old school limited doesn't show such a magenta cast. So it has to be the new HD limiteds.

Was there not a firmware update recently that involved the HD Limiteds? Possible the cameras these images with magenta cast were taken on did not have the new firmware? Just speculating......

Not all that much magenta, but some interesting bad HD21 flare here

Not bad HD21 flare, but cheap UV filter flare!
I've tried shooting strait into the sun with mine at f8 and zero flare!
I did get one tiny green dot at the bottom of the frame with the sun just in frame at the top.

I don't really see a colour balance problem on the K7 either.
