So much for Pentax holding the price on the K20D

Less than 30 after the first release the price in already dropping. Amazon has it listed for $1.173.93 and free shipping. Let the price war begin.

Regards,

Ken

Sorry Ken-

this is obviously an error.

Please refer back to the post by the lady from Michigan (the one who speaks riddle-talk) who stated categorically there would be no price reductions.

I wonder if Amazon checked with her first? She is not going to be too happy about this!

Not the highest rating as a dealer. I'm waiting for buydig, beach,, or amazon to drop to the $900 level.

Seriously, all those site with too good to be true low price, they literrally sell you "body" only, no accessories, no box, nothing. Of course they will call you, let you know that, then if you want all the accessories, extra charge.

I am a bit disappointed too. I thought the price would not come down in another 3months and took the plunge. Now dell has it for 1169$ without tax and I have 250$ coupan in Dell. Pentax should do something about this and offer us, early birders Gift certificates. Any body from Pentax listensing???

OMG OMG the sky is falling, the K*D or K30D must be right around the corner, next month maybe??? oh no OH NO!!!!
IMHO the price was a lil high to begin with, now its about right, maybe $1100 is best though, and the real price point to make/break the lower-end users will be the 1k mark

Yeah, I bought my K10 through Amazon last summer where it was listed for quite a good price, then I got a phone call from a dude with a New york accent that demanded that I buy a couple of lenses to go with it, and when I refused he then switched me to another guy who explained that I had bought a grey market model with no warranty (even though it wasn't advertized as such) and if I didn't pay more, the one I would get probably wouldn't work, etc.

I have a special fondness for dudes with Brooklyn accents.....

Since I know that there are some fans of esoterism among the VIP pentax users. I will look through my crystal ball. Once the samsung, Canon XSI, Sony A350, hit the market for good (even if the Canon and Sony are "lower" level dslr); Canon releases their rebates for the 5d and 40d in the US; and Dpreview through a (Just) highly recommended valoration, I can see the sales for the K200and K20 dropping big time. Pentax executives will panic and the michigan lady will dissapear till the next announcement. After that first moment of panic the K20d will be next to 1000 (I will say in 2 months from now). Then Photokina will come and a nikon 90D will appear, Samsung/pentax will shoot their own foot and will announce a new slightly higher level camera, and then the K20d will be going for 900 (that will be in fall). Then christmas rebates and the camera will go for about 800 in December. At that price, the K20D will be one of the biggest steals ever and Hoya's executives will start to reconsider the 5 years period of grace for the camera division. In 2010 the sky will fall and Pentax camera division will be sold. Samsung will be the K-mount saviour, your NDA friends will be praising another products that pay better (Sony for fashion?) and Hoya/Pentax will be doing lenses under Schneider and Pentax name.
