New processor for Pentax K-3

New upcoming Pentax flagship will surely use this chip:

FUJITSU LIMITED : Fujitsu Releases New Milbeaut

24MP @ 12 FPS

The Gen 6 processor is used in the k-5 and Nikon d7000/7100. The Gen 6 can only accommodate 24MP @ 5 FPS (hence the D7100 being crippled with a 2X crop mode at higher frame rates)

The specs otherwise seem a bit conservative, especially compared to Sony and Panasonic who have been doing 1080p 60p for a few years now.

With the announcement of the K-3 supposedly just weeks away, I would think that they've probably already finalized most if not all of the hardware.

Oh Adam, I've seen that you've already a new forum for further announcements from RICOH (and replace this one)

For all we know it might not even end up being called the K-3! I doubt Pentax would make two back-to-back announcements given that the hd limiteds came out a week ago.

Remember 2010:

- September 9th: K-r and DA 35mm f/2.4
- September 20th: K-5 and DA 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6

New cameras do not magically built themselves in an instant .
The hardware has to be produced before an official announcement.
Very likely there is a first preproduction run at least 6 months beforehand.
Presumably, a year might even come closer to the truth.
Firmware is only updated to the first official version before dispatch.
So a day and even weeks do not really make a difference concerning actual hardware.

So Adam is kind of indicating there will be no press conference or announcement of new gear tomorrow?

K-5IIs in Silver will be announced tomorrow. They will probably announce a DA 41.5mm to bridge the gap in focal length between the 40mm & 43mm LTD. Pentax is good at filling those gaps.

This kind of processing power would be perfect for a 24MP FF. My question is can it handle 14-bit (24MP @ 12FPS)? Can we get 36MP at 5 FPS in 14-bit?
