You want to know who's going to be buying these? Real Estate Agents...

If I had shown theta360.com to my uncle this weekend he would have bought one on the spot.

Seems like we think alike. That first one is the example I actually used in my review.

Yes, me too.
I'm actually thinking about it.

My only question -- is it $400 cool?

My oldest daughter is a network news producer. I'm sending her a link.

As I've written - I smell Q.

The Theta has the potential to be a runaway best seller for estate agents if the images are easily up-loadable and viewable on agency websites - I have no doubt.

perhaps we should all send this link to the bozos at pentax:

it explains quite well what is expected of a great company.

lead on Ricoh!???? (FFS) although Mr Kumao Kajiwara is probably turning over in his grave as we speak...

I don't understand the Theta. I can produce 360 degree panoramas with any Pentax K-mount camera + the DA 10-17, but in much higher resolution and viewable by all popular platforms, including iphone and android. I've been doing that for a few realestate agents for years now.

Now if the Theta is just one click & done. And if the resolution and compatibility were up to par, then it would be brilliant... Even though I then wouldn't want my realestate customers to find out about it. [Grin]

The key appeal of Theta is its unobtrusiveness.
It can be used really well in weather balloons, meteorology, scientific exploration, navigation, yachting, cruising, hiking, scouting, climbing, alpinism, skiing, etc.
Rumours are that the MI-6 has already pre ordered 6,000 of these. It is also a standard equipment now in every double O agent's left shoe

SO happy you added that last sentence! :-D

This gadget is sort of fun. But the example shots at the homepage are horrible - not the sort of quality I could live with. Most of my family members take phone photos only though, and they would probably like it a lot... but then none of them ever used $400 on a photo gadget.

Now for some real news?

(And, although it isn't the same thing, [how to compose 360 degree panoramic shots] gives you 13 million hits on google. The theta no doubt is easier, but it's not like it wasn't something people did already)

Please stop sounding like a broken record... You maybe stated this same opinion at least 3 times in this topic. I must resist the urge to search for the "block user" button.

Though I might be one myself, lately I keep thinking "threadkiller."

You're right! You CAN do that with your DSLR. And you CAN do it with your smartphone camera too!

OK EVERYONE! HOLD PERFECTLY STILL!

Just a minute . . . keep holding . . .

Just a few more shots . . .

HEY, YOU MOVED! I NEED TO START OVER!

Okay, almost there . . .

Um, skateboard dude? Could you just hang there in midair for a few more minutes?

WHAT? YOU CAN'T? BUT SOMEONE ON THE INTERNETS SAID I COULD DO THIS WITH MY CAMERA!

Moving subjects is no problem either, as long as that moving subject can be contained within one frame that is to be stitched. And that's pretty easy when you use a lens with a field of view of 180 degrees.

But yes, it does take a bit more thinking then that Theta-thing.
