Nothing for the K-x or K200D either.

But both cameras still work fine, just like they did before, and will in future.

The new flashes will no doubt still work on older Pentaxes, and lens data/ optical correction formulas for the new HD lenses is no big deal to me.

It's indeed a pity not to benefit from an optimized contrast autofocus when using HD Pentax-DA Limited series lenses with one's K10D in video or live view mode .

I just discovered that I had v1.03 on my K-30 so I decided to play it safe and just attempt 1.05 for the K-30

it appears the K-30 doesn't even acknowledge the K-50 firmware on my sd card.. there is no option at all to install it.

I, however, have discovered if you rename the K-50 firmware to 'fwdc215b.bin' (which is the v1.05 K-30 firmware filename), then the K-30 will give you the option to install the K-50 firmware -- says 'Ver.1.05 --> 1.01' on my screen.

Too concerned it will brick the camera to try it.. but it would be interesting to see if it unlocks the extra ISO setting... and still keeps the camera functioning.. haha

Would further confirm it is the same camera as the K-30 aside from a different shell and firmware... unless it, of course, bricks your camera..

Whoever tries this is a braver man than I. I wonder if you would receive the same option if you renamed a update file for say the k-500 you would receive the same option.

Good question.... would make that a cheap way to get AF point markers in the viewfinder.. provided it doesn't brick the camera.

I was very tempted to try installing the K-50 firmware on my K-30 but held off when I looked up previous bricked endeavors from fellow Pentaxians years ago.. apparently CRIS charges 200+ USD to repair a bricked camera???

I'm guessing the firmware is likely to install though since the cameras are so close to the same, hence my desire to try... but it is a risk..

The K-500 is missing the AF overlay hardware. It's not a software issue.

Support for lenses is only for optimized contrast AF. Not the optical corrections, these are embedded in lens.

my K5 LCD screen blackout about 3/4 of the update, i waited a while but the screen still show nothing. I then turn off and on the camera and it seems like the camera is dead (no sounds and LCD screen display upon turning on the camera), except the battery life on the top control panel. I pressed the shutter button, it autofocus and take a shot without showing anything on the screen (neither saving any pictures in the sd card). I removed the batteries, sd card and lens from the camera for 20 min and put it back on, still it doesn't work. What should I do now?

Does it seem that the controls on the back still work (to maneuver through the menus on the LCD)? IF so I'd find a listing of steps on how to get to the flashing setup and enable that again... that is try to flash it again.. after you ensure you have a fresh battery..

nope, nothing work except the shutter release button. I called the service centre and will send it to repair later. Hopefully it won't cost much and take to long to get it back...

It may be worth trying the process again: SD card with the appropriate firmware, then turn the camera power on while pressing the MENU button. If you're lucky, the update process will start.

tried it and no luck for me. I sent it to the service centre and it will take 4-6 weeks until I get it back. Thanks for the help though.
