Like "pre-announced" on official sites, this K-3 really looks as the long awaited APS-C new DSLR flagship !

It is genuine, google it yourself:

https://www.google.fr/search?q=%22K-3%22+site%3Aricoh-imaging.co.jp

and you'll find what I posted above.

"CXシリーズ; GRシリーズ; GXR; Qシリーズ; K-01; K-30/K-50; K-5シリーズ/K-3. 645D" means "CX series; GR series; GXR; Q series; K-01; K-30/K-50; K-5 series/K-3; 645D" (pictures taken by Pentax users with... in the framework of contests organised by Ricoh).
Thats not true - google finds K-30 and since it matches the search string "K-3" it flags it.

I suggest you re-read the sentence found by Google (second link provided by the search) and quoted in my post page 9:

K-3 is put by Ricoh in the same contest group as the K-5 series, K-30 and K-50 are in another group.

LOL!

What happened to the K-4 anyway? Why's everybody expecting a K-3 and no K-4?
iirc, '4' sounds like 'death' in Japanese, so you tend to find house/flat/floor numbers skipping from 3 to 5. It's much the same as with 13 in the us/uk....

Nikon seems not to be so superstitious, having had an F4 and a D4. And I have twice lived in house number 13 with no ill effects (I think)

But... but... but then why all the slow lenses with a max aperture of F4? If you're gonna be superstitious, then be thorough about it.

I am really afraid 3 not to sound same. I mean the market of 24MP APS-C is quite occupied.
It should be something very, very special to break trough.

Nikon and any other Japanese manufacturer like Sony don't care about the superstition if they use Arabic numerals in their product names. D4, PlayStation 4 - they don't pronounce the number "shi" (death) or even "yon" simply cause it is "four" to them as much as it is to us.

"Any other Japanese manufacturer"? Look at Olympus and Panasonic models, they've all skipped the number 4 (E-PL3-> E-PL5, TZ3 -> TZ5, and so on).

Olympus had the OM-4 film camera back in the day. They skipped E-2 and E-4 - guess they just wanted odd numbers?

Panasonic has a Lumix TZ4 and FZ4. They skipped FZ6 for whatever reason.

I think my point still stands.

Pentax has skipped more numbers than they used. They started the K-(x) line by skipping 8-9, then skipped 6 when going from K-7 to K-5, so skipping 4 is just business as usual.

Hmm, I missed the TZ4. But they skipped the 4 for the G-series, and Olympus dropped 4 for both the E-PL and E-P series.

Maybe it has less to do with superstition, but with versions and prototypes. Maybe the K-6 and K-4 are prototypes that never got released?

Imho, not the case.
Prototypes have their own appellation and receives a commercial appellation when they are released.
