I am working through some very boring paperwork and I logged on for some diversion. You guys crack me up. Best diversion I could have!
Now we need an in depth discussion about why they called it the U mount if it didn't exist

Well I don't have a degree in optical engineering so I'm not exactly qualified to discuss the image quality effects of the new U mount. But I can surely draw some parallel with the success of the U-Haul brand.

What's this - K-3?

iirc, '4' sounds like 'death' in Japanese, so you tend to find house/flat/floor numbers skipping from 3 to 5. It's much the same as with 13 in the us/uk....
Eh....that is not universally true, and while there may be some relationship, afaik it's not as simple as "sounds like death"...

Either way...

The 3 hotels I stay at when in Japan all have floors 4 (and 14).
Incidentally, my favorite lunch restaurant in Shinju-ku is on the 4th floor.
As I most often go to Japan for work, the office I occupy when in Tokyo is on the 4th floor.

Perhaps the Japanese is trying to cause my "death" by sticking me in contexts with 4 being prominent - but I really doubt it

I also think that there's a Japanese camera company that has released cameras with the labels both F4 and D4 .... and I think I remember the same company having a F404 at some point (without the company "dying twice" from that)

On the other hand....in South Korea, I have so far not seen the digit "4" in or around Seoul. I was staying at a hotel there a few weeks back, and the floors went "1-2-3-F-5-6-7-8-...", for example.....that said, I do not spend as much time in Korea as I do in Japan....

Olympus had an OM4, but I can't recall if Canon ever had an EOS4 or any other with "4" in its model number. Nor can I recall a Pentax numbered 4. Perhaps its an aversion, maybe just a coincidence. The mystery deepens...

Panasonic also tends to avoid the 4. LX3 -> LX5, GF3->GF5->GF6...

Embarrassing that I forgot the OM4, what, given that I have had one and all
The digit 4 can't be all tabu for Pentax, though....two 40mm lenses, a 43mm lens, several f/4 lenses, all in the current line-up

Oh, and by the way...I think that this is proof that we no /officially/ have run out of things to talk about on this forum.....

Well may be not, as we've been here before... like, say, December 2010

So you're saying the official date where we ran out was already in 2010

Wow, that is a pretty hefty camera. Looks much more serious, even threatening; not as stylish as the latest Pentax cameras. Hope this means it comes with pro tier features, going above the K-5

So disappointing, it s not a FF (only the successor of K5).
Disappointing? Hardly, we knew that for over a year....
