bump is a high end audio jack

If this statement turns out to be true, I would like to order one without it please. I just want a camera, not some kind of abomination. I may be in the minority however, and this would fit with the new lens being primarily for videographers. I guess I wouldn't not buy it because of this.

I heard it several times already, didn't made sense then, doesn't make sense now. A lens for video is something like the Canon STMs, i.e. with ultrasilent motors optimized for video AF; that's quite different from our Limiteds.

Ah, I read that post as "lens" singular and thought the poster was talking about something new or maybe the 18-80ish f/2.8 or something. Did not think of the "HD limiteds". I fear using HD on these was a mistake as too many will assume the HD is related to video rather than the coating. I'm surprised they used it actually as I thought 'HD' was trademarked for a video format.

HD was a trademark for Hoya filters (still is) well before it was used by Pentax.

I remember when those came out I think, big splash in the trade mags. I may be wrong but was not Pentax owned by Hoya at that time? Wonder if the new coating was part of the Hoya/Pentax/Ricoh deal? Both Hoya and Ricoh get to use it?

No, it's not assuming... is anti-Pentax propaganda; don't listen to that.
A more natural connection would be with the HD/non-HD TVs, and that's all about resolution. I think you're thinking too technical, going straight to the 1080p video format; but would the average consumer do the same?

I doubt there's any connection between the technologies, though it might be possible Hoya wanted to "uniformize" things and profit from Pentax' coating experience/research.
After all, Pentax never stopped developing new coatings, and have a very good reputation in this field. Hoya... just do a comparative patent search
