Ok good point... Then maybe some names are skipped because it might somehow mean something very different somewhere in the world? A meaning nobody wants attached to their product? Remember the K-Z debacle a few years back?

I just think Pentax like to use these numbers.
Many film SLR has used 3, 5 and 7 in the product names.

But 8, 9, 6, and 4 has not been used much. The only camera I can remember using any of these number is MZ-6, which was a minor update of MZ-7.

There was no K-6, why would there be a K-4?

K-7 -> K-5 -> (K-3)

New news discussions in the 'news and rumors' section rarely happen at the pentax forums. It is mostly deep debating of the internal affairs of the company or specifications of the next camera body that are never enough..

I still come here because, once in a blue moon, someone posts something factual. That is, actual news. It is rare but happens.. honest!

K2 (also known as Chhogori/Qogir, Ketu/Kechu, and Mount Godwin-Austen) is the second-highest mountain on Earth, after Mount Everest. It is part of the Himalayas and much harder to climb than Everest.
