Since the lens was scheduled for "2013 or later", I think it must have been originally planned for the K-3. Pentax doesn't seem very keen on selling the 16-50, otherwise a high end K-3 kit option with that lens would have been natural.

So why is the lens delayed? Unforeseen problems? Or maybe a shift of focus: They're working hard on FF kit zooms instead?
Maybe they just need to produce enough of them before launch. To avoid a situation like the launch of Ricoh GR.

What would you do if you were Ricoh? Announce both the 645D + the FF there or only the 645D at CP+ and the FF at Photokina 2014?

But it would be fun if they announced two FF's at CP+: the FF 645D and the FF K-1
I would not think they would spread the announcements all that much intentionally. I think that they would announce any new product as soon as the dev is completed and manufacture is in full swing.

Fun aside: is the 67 II still available new outside of Japan? Does it still have a following? And lastly: would a Digital 67 make sense in this day and age (even when the lenses are AF and not MF like they are now)?
Make sense? It'd be awesome to have a digital 67 but sooooo expensive...

A digital 67 would be beyond awesome..but so would the price also be, I guess. the 645 wasn't even a full 645... and it was at $10,000. A digital 67 would probably... ah, I don't know. I'm not good with speculative pricing. But very few will be able to buy it, and those who can may also prefer other choices (even more expensive ones) like PhaseOne.

but yeah, a digital 67 is a fantasy cam I'd like to see come true too.

They need to hurry up with it. I need a good AF zoom wider than the 50-135, and I've been holding out to get one with weather resistance. I'd rather have something a bit longer than the 16-50, so 18-85 or thereabouts would be ideal, at least if it was fast enough.

I agree, that would be an ideal lens but there's no knowing until its announced and who knows when that will happen or if it will happen. That's why I'm going to get the DA 16-50 while its on sale..

I thought I recalled Pentax saying that there really isn't a future for 67.

Personally I'd be happy with a full-frame 645 for $10-12k.
