And also "[the following is] the story I heard from Ricoh's staff in a shop".

FWIW, a rumour on a Japanese site:
?????? K-3 (K-5???) ????????????????????

and translation thanks to google:
  • Definitive almost DSLR successor to the K-5 in the K-3 is announced
  • Rather than the 35mm full size sensor, the sensor is equipped with an APS-C sensor
  • Moveable LCD monitor is adopted, body size is slightly larger
  • Details of sensors would guess, but it is going to be a sensor of 20 million pixels or more Sony-less low-pass specification
  • 1.0 times magnification with 100% field of view viewfinder
  • In the announcement soon, to be released at the end of October
  • Body alone is about 120,000 yen
  • Color (released by Silver later?) Only black
  • New lens to expand in the future, shift to HD coating from the SP coating

Ohw... Sony again. They're on a role, aren't they? Yes, kinda like that, but then with a high-end ILC with it's high-end lenses. I'm quite sure there is high demand for Pentax tethering. Make it wireless and available for multiple platforms, laptop, tablet, phone, IOS, Android. I would gladly pay for such a piece of software. So I'm also quite convinced this would generate some nice aftermarket income for Pentax as well. Plus it adheres to their promiss of more professional tools.

I don't dispute the leak on the Ricoh site, but some of you have lost sight of the fact that Riceroni posted the specs from an unnamed "source". His goal in life is to dump on Pentax. I'll wait for something more credible, thanks.

OK, I'm starting to save for the successor model now.

Because it will be an FF model.

Why else would the body size increase if Pentax did not plan to reuse the same body for the upcoming FF model?

I'm hoping that part of the rumour is true...

Just to be clear, I'm convinced the K-3 is not an FF model yet. But I think the days when someone could say "We heard the '...the FF model will come next year...'-story before" are over.

Everything eventually decreases to zero, even used stuff. Think of the some of the first digital cameras released. They're going for as low as $10 nowadays in perfect working order. That's why I think it's important to get as much genuine use out of your goods as possible to make whatever price was paid worthwhile. I got my K-30 in June and the K-50/500 came out soon after. During that time before the updated K's were released I used my K-30 almost daily and learned a lot along the way. I could always say that the price could have gone down but the experience of use during that time was of great value to me. So, I say that K-5 should get a bajillion genuine shutter clicks on it starting.... now! That makes every shot fired almost free!
Sure if you already bought it.

However, the price tends to DROP when a successor is released. Meaning, it would have been more cost effective to wait if one didn't require the camera immediately... especially so soon to a new release..

I don't get why anyone would want a tilt/flip screen on a digital SLR.
Its time to post some real photographic evidence in the threat....this guy might not agree with you! Hope he has good shake reduction.

I use the viewfinder generally, and the screen is usually for checking settings and reviewing photos. On the odd occasion when I want use live view, the fixed screen works just fine.
Tilt screens are just one more potential thing to break IMHO.
I would love a tilt screen! I would no longer have to lay on the ground looking like an idiot to get a low angle shot

Please, lets keep this civil and don't make any threats. How will a tilting screen fix this situation? And how will he cover the giant light-leak called the OVF with his thumb now?

That particular "threat" is most likely a harmless typo.

I know, it was an equally harmless joke. My bad, I should have added a smiley of some sorts.

Not only has Pentax fallen behind in the production of cameras, but I fear that they are also falling hopeless behind in the rumors of cameras. These rumors of a K-3 and FF are so old now. Other makes have much newer, fresher, higher pixel rumors with more dynamic range and better AF.

Come on Ricoh, you'd had enough time to assimilate Pentax. Give us some fresh rumors!!!
