Nice boat but not as romantic as an evening with a D800E on a Yacht. ;-)

I had breakfast on the beach this morning with my K-5 IIs and 15mm Limited. Years ago it used to be with the wife, but since she's gone off with another bloke I make light conversation with my APS-C and the local stray beach dog. Yes, it's far more pleasant now although the K-5 wouldn't eat her eggs.

See what you guys could be doing to pass the time waiting for the great announcement?
Whoa, you live in a completely different part of the world. Under those circumstances you're completely correct. Over here it's dark outside, it rains hard, it's very windy and it's cold. The last time it didn't rain was about a month ago. The WR of my old K-5 failed in only a third of the amount of rain which is falling now.

I'll just enjoy my new photoshop project for now, and occasionally peep in here to check for updates... And to chuckle at all the bickering.

Long time ago. Water under the bridge.

When are Ricoh going to make me a full frame?

Not holding my breath.

I think full frame is largely overrated. Like everything else in photography one advantage always has its disadvantages. One will be depth of field. Unless you like "bokeh" in every photo, a larger format at the same f-stop ALWAYS has less depth of field.

The camera has to be at least a little heavier too.

Just got done paying off my Pentax K-5 II. Love THAT camera.

Buying a K-3 will not automatically make you a better photographer, just a photographer who now has less money.

More Megapix will allow me to reduce or even suppress moiré that appears on birds feather sometimes with the K5iis. Good for me.

I love bokeh and low light with my PK f1.2. I really want that thing hanging out of a full frame.

A full frame Pentax is the only hope we have left to be able to get fast wide angles, such as 35 and wider.

Not to mention the light-gathering advantages.

I suppose I should rescind my FF prediction as it does seem to be a tweak of the K-5.

Of course it's a tweak to the K-5. Where d'you think we are? A Nikon forum?

That said, it'll still be a bangin' camera.

as, what has been said about mode dial and perspective distortion, I can just think about how small that dial is compared to other models...maybe it could be little thicker, thinner and little bit taller. Would that help with putting more in to it.?

A different approach, from left to right:
  • K-5 with BG
  • K-3 scaled to match BG of (K-5 with BG)
  • K-3 additionally scaled in vertical direction to match size of K-5
The second approach also yields a nearly identical PENTAX lettering.
