I like SRS always been very helpful, I was surprised to meet a chap from Cornwall working behind the counter, almost like being at home

Well, there it is then. I think that puts all the rumours about reveal dates to bed. 8/9 October is the date to watch Pentax-land.

I, too, have purchased a significant amount of Pentax gear from SRS (I lived in the UK for a few years). They should be given some sort of Pentax award! They were the only ones offering a decent line of Pentax equipment when everyone else in the UK seemed to have abandoned the brand (during the 'Hoya' years I believe).

Is anyone speculating on a Full Frame? Seems a little soon after the release of the K-5II for it to be anything less. If it isn't then someone from marketing has just moved from Apple.

I'd give 2:1 odds that it isn't, which I think makes me an optimist, overall, that it is.

There's a few things that make me think it *is*: 24 MP, my phone call with Pentax, the hype that this is big news, the weight gain of 40 grams and what appears to be a larger pentaprism.
There's a few things that make me think it isn't: 24MP, overall pessimism, all the rumor mills saying it's APS-C, the weight gain of only 40 grams, the APS-C lens on the front of the thing, no rumors of lenses.

All of the conversations with Pentax-related people posted on this site (including my own) seem to run along the lines of 'just wait, something special is coming very soon'.

If it isn't a FF, it must be a very impressive APS-C. Either way, I'm very excited by the prospect.

Nope this is a K-5 II. They may have a K-3 to show but this is a picture of a K-5 II.

It WILL NOT be full frame. I would bet the farm on it. Sure it's "too soon" after K5iis, but look at the D600, it was released around the same time and and update is already coming. The think about the K5ii/s is that they are not "new" they are updates to the K5. We need a true successor to the K5 APSC format camera, the K3 will be that and more. It will be the new best ASPC on the market paving the way for Pentax to go FF if it deems suitable.

I honestly think Pentax will skip FF at this time in its life. They will go right for 645 and try to make it affordable enough to draw the FF buyers to the next level.

Well, I just dont think they'll release a FF camera so soon after kicking off their 5Reasons to choose Pentax campaign...with no. 2 being the wide selection of APS-C lenses.

K3 and K5 have the same width, same shape. K3 is just a tad taller in the pentaprism, which is visible from this silhouette, of course.

I lighten it up and I am absolutely sure it is just a K5IIs but I'm sure they will not do it with the proper camera, because of people like me. Or because it is like blatantly announcing the thing.

Take the image into lightroom. lighten shadows and black levels. You can see that it's a K5 II-s. The logo is recoverable. You're imagining the difference in shape (or not accounting for the angle of the shot).

Doesn't mean there's not a new camera coming.. but that's not a picture of it. Unless it's a K5-IIIs and a couple of the Is blurred together.
