Button also means that you can save AF mode and AF points to user modes.
If the AF points selector would disappear (to be verified when first images of the back are leaked?) that would indeed make quickly changing AF setting much easier. Currently I have to switch to do three manipulations to switch from my normal settings to tracking AF friendly settings: select AF-C, select Auto AF points and select a dedicated USER mode (that returns AF onto the shutter release among others). If I could have all this in one USER mode I would be very happy!

Speaking of Sony, does the new A3000/A58 sensor have built-in PDAF?
Non of these cameras use on sensor PDAF, so I doubt it has it. This sensor looks to be a bit limited In other areas too.

Frame rate went from 10 FPS in full resolution on A57 to 5 FPS on A58, which might be because of the 20MP sensor. A3000 use 3.5 FPS.
These cameras are also limited to 1080i video in 50/60 fps.

These limitation might not be because of the sensor, but why is Sony only using this sensor in low specified cameras?

Geez, every time a new body is released, there's always complaints about how it looks.

Sure, if that bump somehow adversely affecting ergonomics then fine - however, if you're holding the camera on the left-side then you're doing something wrong.
In your avatar, you're holding your camera on the left side sorry but wednesday is pedants day in France

Perhaps the were just requested by Ricoh to remove the banner until after the press release?

that would be purely stupid from RICOH side:
a) it's an Open Day event to promote PENTAX
b) it's generating huge interest in their new product
c) it's already an open secret that something is coming

So they've adopted the printer/copier model? Give the hardware away at cost and make your money on the consumables?
Not adopted....applied. Ricoh is a printer/copier company before anything

Yes, the hump is where the toner cartridge goes in. You see how they keep hiding the back of the camera? There's a little printer there.

If you bump the exposure on this silhouette you can "clearly" see the K-5 II s stamp on the camera so I would wager they are either waiting for the actual product image or they will not have the K-3 to show in time. Hopefully not the latter.

It is on their Facebook page with the following info:

"We are very happy to announce our latest Pentax Open Day which is on Wednesday 9th October from 10am to 4pm.

We will have something very special to play with, more news closer to the time!!"

For what it's worth, I don't think it's ugly at all. I think it looks like a serious piece of gear.

You wanna camera with a big, goofy looking pentaprism? Here ya go:

I'm curious to know the specs of this new model.

I'm confident Ricoh could announce a 40MP FF titanium bodied, platinum plated wonder-DSLR for $100, and some people would still complain about it.

More news closer to the time equals more rumors and speculation!
