So much for my theory of that hump concealing the motor for EVF mechanism! Anyway the original patent had that motor function done by the mirror motor itself, so still open for surprises!!!

A Z-axis sensor shift is rumoured to be used by Sony on a soon-to-be-announced NEX body to help focus with manual lenses ( la Contax AX).

With autofocus lenses, it's called AF-C .
1 - Maybe it's only a rumour It would still be a tedious and time consuming operation, may be

2 - AF-C ??? Only with contrast detection focusing, done in the sensor! With current method of phase detection focusing it's not possible!

Significant changes:
  1. Revised AF switch and AF MODE button
This indicates significant changes to the AF system
  2. USB 3.0 connector
This is a standard USB Micro-B connector, not a proprietary connector
  3. Headphone jack
  4. Card select button
This means we have dual SD card slots!
  5. Live view mode switch and live view/movie recording button
Finally, Ricoh's taking movie recording seriously!
  6. Metering mode/delete button
This replaces the standalone delete button, indicating significant changes to the metering system
In addition:
  • There is no AF mode selector on the back on the camera. It has probably been moved to the AF MODE button on the front of the camera. The AF button has bee moved up to the right of the E-dial. The button for selecting the AF point is the same button used to select card slots.
  • A diopter wheel is visible at the top right of the viewfinder eyepiece.
Now that's gorgeous. Ricoh delivered pretty much everything us Pentaxians wanted.

erh...did they? Maybe for you.

Don't get me wrong but we know nothing about the real specs so far. Do you see integrated wifi? Thetering?

Not saying this isn't a good sign for a giant leap forward, but I'm waiting for a spec sheet.

I'm a sports photographer for the College of Staten Island Dolphins. I shoot on both outdoor soccer fields and dim indoor basketball courts. While I've been able to deliver solid images with my K-5 and K-r, high burst rates, deep buffers, and fast, reliable tracking AF matter really to me.

USB 3.0 means UHS-I SDXC slots. It means that the buffer is going to be pretty deep since the data transfer to the card will be fast (and I have a SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s card to take full advantage of it). The AF system is the most advanced we've ever seen in any Pentax DSLR--if the rumors are right (and they likely are), 27 points, all cross-type. The rumors also speak of 8.5 fps continuous shooting, faster than the EOS 7D, EOS 70D, and Nikon D7100.

If RIcoh did it right, the K-3 will set a new benchmark for enthusiast-class DSLR cameras. C&N have finally met their match.

Unless Pentax is improving SDM they still wont have lightning fast AF. Part of the problem for Pentax is the speed of the AF motor.

Moving buttons around doesn't indicate anything.

That's true! how ever, if they made a button for it, then one might thinkk that it is intended for more usage
As I said before, I like buttons layout. Easy to use AF- button. For example. Most thing you use with your eye on WF are easy to find and those wich you use with menu or display are in good place too

But the most important part is the need of a more sophisticated/intelligent AF, not a mere increase in AF points count, and... we'll see about that, in few days

I'm pretty confident that we will see a much improved AF. Faster and more accurate. If Pentax is going to put out a "pro-grade" APS-C body they will have to finally address this.

We really can't expect the 24MP to be a huge improvement over the 16MP, so it is the support technologies that need to really shine on the K-3.

None of the other brands can do that.

Someone forgot about Sony A580, huh?
