The hump serves the same purpose as the fins on the K-30.

Cooling?

I say it's an internal cold fusion reactor to power the camera

Geez, every time a new body is released, there's always complaints about how it looks.

Sure, if that bump somehow adversely affecting ergonomics then fine - however, if you're holding the camera on the left-side then you're doing something wrong.

Every new Pentax camera looks worst when announced, then, when it's about to be replaced, it starts looking good

I think the camera looks awesome. It looks like it is packed full of all kinds of goodies. I have not been excited about a Pentax body ever since the K5 came out, so I find this photo to be amazing.

I can't imagine how this place will react if this "k-3" remains formally unannounced post-October. hahaha!

agreed. Even then, the K5 didn't really excite me until a few months after its release. This is the first camera I'm waiting with bated breath for the official announcement!

I'm trying to figure out how to make both my Xbox One preorder and this camera work... and if the Xboxone needs to wait until the new year, so be it!

I already got a "deposit" on one.... odd as that sounds. :P

I think it's a little awkward looking. If the specs and performance are good though, I won't care.

Well, we now have a K-3 area here:
Pentax K-3 - PentaxForums.com

So it must be real and due soon...

But then again, we also have a FF area on this forum too, so I don't know what's real and what's not anymore

Oh no! Lets all hope that hump on the side isn't caused by the re-introduction of the aperture leaver coupling thing that some seem to miss so badly.
I think its an ergonomic design. When holding the camera with 2 hands, it lets your thumb sit comfortably whilst contributing in supporting the cameras weight. This should help with stability.
