K-3 with 24mp Sony A77 sensor will be announced in early October

QuoteQuote:
What you see on top is the new Pentax K-3 that will be announced in early October. It will feature the same Sony 24 megapxiel sensor from the SLT-A77. Interesting, the K-3 has a “Software AA Filter” (no Hardware filter!).
Rumors from others: No new Canon DSLR this year. Pentax K-3 with Sony 24 MP sensor. | sonyalpharumors

Pentax would use the same sensor as a MY 2011 camera? Really?
(I'm not saying other things are incorrect)

It shoots up to 12 fps at full 24.3mp with continuous AF so it's still a great camera for $898.

SAR simply seems to be recycling other rumors that have been floating around. Well, we're almost to early October; it won't be long until we know for sure....

If you really think that Pentax is going to charge you only $898,- for their catch-up camera with 3 year old tech in it, then you better think again.

Sensors go through upgrade cycles just like most other products. Not a big deal.

And since there was a rumour that Pentax had tried out the early version and found there was too much cross talk amongst the pixels, this could be a better version than the original. Or the engineers found a way to filter it.

Asahiman says it is not the A77 sensor. That is more convincing to me than speculation by a bunch of Sony fanboys.

I hope it's not the A77/Nex 7 sensor. I've shot extensively with the Nex 7 and hate shooting above iso1600. I find the noise at 3200 terrible compared to my K-5IIs.

Who cares, it's an old sensor with a so-so image quality; it won't be used in a new Pentax flagship.

Wow, I just compared the A77 vs the NEX-3N @16000 iso and the A77 is really bad .
A77 vs NEX-3N @16000 iso

K-5 IIs vs NEX-3N @ 12800 iso

Maybe they should use the NEX-3N sensor instead
