This is nice news - I spent all day today in Sydney Harbour using my 55-300mm... Although, it would be nice if they chucked a DC motor in it - the hunting is always a bit painful :P

LOL. For a long time I have wanted an upgraded version of the 55-300mm. I have been trying to justify the purchase of the 60-250mm and recently I had pretty much resigned myself to it. Now this happens.....

What next? An updated 60-250mm??
60-250 will be updated when we have FF, which is "soon"

Good release from Pentax that actually makes sense Now bring DA 35 /2.4 WR

I like this lens, as it makes so much sense. And it will probably be the first lens in years I will buy new.

It's easy to follow Ricoh strategy. They seems to be very focused on patching holes in the product line-up, and starting with small and easy updates.
This might be a very effective way of making the Pentax brand much more recognized as it hopefully makes it much easier to understand the product line-up.

One thing I hope on, is that all new HD DA zoom lenses will be weather sealed, Low end lenses with WR sealing, and high end lenses with AW sealing.
Maybe only some DA L lenses without sealing.

I'm buying this for sure! I have been saving for DA*60-250, but can't afford it now that new camera is out, and it is time for me to update my K-7...and I don't have to either.

Pentax needs to ditch screw drive in their consumer zooms. If this thing is DC-driven it will be sweet.

A WR 55-300mm has been in my mind for a long time. Nice!
Ricoh adress a constant remark from Pentax users about the non-WR old 55-300.
Now it is ;-)

Consumers are spoiled with whisper-quiet AF. Especially considering how quiet Canon's new STM line is.

I think screw-drive is fine for the Limiteds. It helps retain a smaller form factor. Consumer-oriented zooms like the 55-300? DC all the way.

Looks like the beans have been spilled. Pentax probably won't be too happy about all these leaks...

But it was about time for this lens to come out, that's for sure!
I agree! of the 3 kit quality lenses, 18-55, 50-200 and this one, this one made more sense to WR.

I love my DA L 55-300 so this is a welcome addition to the line. I just hope it's a DC motor like the DA18-135mm lens. I know I'm dreaming but hey I can dream.
