Looks like the beans have been spilled. Pentax probably won't be too happy about all these leaks...

But it was about time for this lens to come out, that's for sure!

I'll definitely be happy! Like an idiot, I gave away my 55-300 when I bought a 60-250, and have regretted it ever since. Oh, the DA* is a great lens, no doubt, but the 55-300 is a lot lighter and cheaper (so I don't worry so much about knocking it), and it goes out to 300mm. I certainly had no complaints about the sharpness of my old lens, so I reckon this will be a definite buy for me.

I have a perfectly good 55-300, 2 years old. Lives in my travel bag. Nice light lens, with good IQ, and a great combo with my DA*16-50.

I would buy this new one in a flash for the WR and HD coating.

I think Ricoh are on to a winner here

ok in good light. But need faster and constant ap too. But it's not a high end so it should satisfy many. If the price is right, I might spring for it.

well I carry the DA*60-250 around all the time on my IIs so I'm used to it I guess. I would opt for big and heavy to get what I want though. That's why I say this will suit many, and perhaps even me for the right price. I have the SDM 17-70 and carried it all over Italy. It was quite versatile, and this would have been a great partner since it's not going to be a heavy lens.

WINNER. Thanks, Ricoh!

OK, now who's interested in a slightly used DA 55-300?
