Looks like a chintzy toy.
30+ years ago, the black models were so sought after that manufacturers charged more for them, even though the internals were exactly the same.

30+ years ago they were shiny black lacquer over brass, now it's just plastic. I'll be happy to buy one in unprofessional silver to match my unprofessional FA limiteds. Hopefully the silver will be always be available, not just a limited edition job.

Try matte black or silver powder coating over magnesium alloy.

Difference in connector's positioning in comparison with tripod screw? Hard to tell with the different angles of view.
