Silver? Silver, what? Silver paint? If so guaranteed to look ugly as it scraps off.

Kivis , I was thinking exactly that, When I 1st bough my Silver Mz-50 it looks nice and shinny but as the paint started to wear off it started looking really horrible , but then again it showed that I actually used the camera.

If the grip and textured areas were leather to match the strap, then I might like it.

As it is I'm not that attracted to to it. Just a paint job.

Damn you! Now I have to clean the drool from my keyboard...

That looks damn nice, I really hope the silver is the actual magnesium shell and not paint.

Anybody got scratches on their Black SLR? I certainly haven't, I cant see why a silver finish would be any different if they use the same bonding process. And I think most photographers are a lot more gentle with their cameras compared to the film days.

With the silver and the leather strap, to me it looks like an old man's camera!

I`ve had both K20D Titanium and now the K5 Silver LTD . (Not the special ed , but the LTD ) and I`ve never experienced any problem what so ever concerning scratches. But this model seems to be more of a color alternative, more than an LTD version. The grip and its colourdesign is the same as K20D was though..Its nice , but I cant feel the burning sensation in my Visa. (K-3 seems to be much more a video camera than I prefer, and I really dislike the moving of the AF button, and the HUGE video/still lever.)

My Pentax K-5 Silver has a couple of scratches on the bottom plate and another on the top plate and from what I can tell, just the flash cover is painted plastic. The rest is painted metal. I don't see why the K-3 should be any different that the K-5 Silver Ed. Looking at a picture of the specs where you can see the mag body then I'm sure almost all the shiny parts on the K-3 art metal.

Just finished re-reading the first 6 1/2 pages. Pretty funny arguments about what Ricoh couldn't, wouldn't and shouldn't do considering what they just did. -;
