It has everything I needed for pre-order; more pixels for cropping, improved AF & tracking. Anything else is gravy.
Agreed. My K5 is in for repair, probably won't get it for another two three weeks. I wonder if a K3 will be available sooner?

Pentax K-3 Specifications

Focus peaking? pretty please?
I hope so! Taking this feature out would almost break their marketing play of the past that you can cleanly and easily use legacy glass.

I hope that tethering ist possible via Wifi including live view before triggering. But I'm nit shure because the wifi vendor didn't say anything about that. There is no commanding of a device via wifi with this card

Just curious how much is this camera expected to cost when released?

Pentax body always good. but they lack good zoom lens. I would be more interesting to see Pentax update 16-50 and 50-135.

So a couple of questions / observations...
  • 12, 14 or 16 bit A/D for color depth?
  • Focus Peaking - it appears that the Fujitsu Milbeaut orphaned this capability by not bringing it forward from version 6 to version 7. I am taking this point as the K3 not having any focus peaking capability.
  • If they are shifting the sensor to introduce a soft anti-ailaising filter effect, then they have the fine control to 1) shift a half of pixel in x, y to introduce enhanced resolution (72MP from a 24MP sensor) and 2) shift one pixel to introduce stacking pixels for enhanced color (shifting a Bayer filter into a Foveon) - color stacked pixels at 24MP and/or 3) Combine the two approaches into an independent third approach. I think that the bulk of this would be best done off camera in post processing. A series of individual RAW images with just the shift and standard processing (with EXIF tagging) saved to the SD card (especially at the higher transfer speeds) would work well.
  • ISO range - Perhaps something below 80 (more sensor related though, than image processing)?
  • Better sensor noise filtering provided by the Fujitsu Milbeaut image processor (perhaps providing the current ISO 80 with even better noise rejection).
  • How will all of this translate into Dynamic Range?
  • With its better optical processing, it looks like it should be able to correct a lens' CA (purple/green fringing) on the fly.
  • With the image processor, Fujitsu claims to have improved the image processing chain thus doubling performance, while also using an improved chip manufacturing process reducing power consumption by at about a third - providing improved battery life?
  • The image processing chip is capable of 12fps at 24M pixels, so there are other in-camera processing elements slowing it down to 8+fps. This bring up the question of how many images will it buffer?
Nikon uses the same image processing chip for their D7x00 line, with their own embedded enhancements. So Nikon Expeed has access to exactly the same capabilities.

^ I would be shocked if the K-3 doesn't have focus peaking - I would have thought this was a firmware issue rather than being hardwired into the processor

No if they had a version with a weak/no hot filter I'd be tossing my credit card at Ricoh

Back again.....Can someone explain this to me? What is a photometric sensor and how does this relate to better AF? Try to explain it in terms that would be understandable to a squirrel brain...if possible? Not that I have a squirrel brain, Otis constantly reminds me I am not that advanced, but I am pretty close!

Regards & Thanks in advance!
