You can't deal with this in software properly. Information is lost and there is no software in the world who can restore that. There are software to make it more difficult to see the moire pattern, but the details in the image which is destroyed by this moire pattern is lost forever.
In practice I've found that software takes care of 100% of the problem 80% of the time. Data is lost? Maybe, but even pixel-peeping I can't tell.

Unless that announcement is for next year ....

Today is Monday 7 October 2013.

If the announcement is meant for Tuesday (US Time) we won'rt get in till Wednesday morning (our time)
I believe the announcement was set to 'X' in Japan time, which happens to be in the evening Tuesday US time.

Edit: Other threads are now saying Tuesday Morning Japan time, so 24 hours or so to go.

Not sure what "set to X" means in this context but Tokyo is only 1:30 behind Adelaide.

PS> I assume you mean they picked a random time and it coincided.. doing too many things at once here today.

Is it just an announcement or are they ready to be delivered?

Usually it's 'just' a pre-order announcement and the actual units are 1 week away or more.

I'm hoping they open pre-order pretty quickly. I would like to get it for the holiday seasons.

Usually you can pre-order the same day. I think the usual circumstance is that the retailers won't get it for a short while after that.

I've pre-ordered stuff in the past and I could be way off base but I think I usually received it 2-3 weeks later. There's a few things that drag on forever but I think the cameras were generally on the short side of that range.

You can rest assured that if it's not out before black friday, heads will roll internally at Ricoh/Pentax.

Dang! That looks like the silver version will be more expensive (or perhaps may only be bought with the grip.... or both) That'll make the decision harder.

That would be wildlife action in my case:

Common Swift K5 with sigma 150-500.

I`ve spend 4 entire afternoons to get this common swift in flight, these animals can reach a staggering 200 Km/h and do the craziest turns. The K5 AF-c just can`t keep up and most of the time won`t even lock on. Worst of all, when finally achieving focus, it will jump and lock into the background when anything appears behind the bird (i.e. Trees, hills, bridges, etc) Improved tracking combined with color-awareness sounds like a gift from heaven to me
The tracking part is already improved on K-30, K-50 and K-5 IIs. They have an optional function to ignore background or something in the foreground. When they do tracking in this mode, objects on the same distance has priority. If you loose your object, they search on the same distance to find the object again and will not focus on the background og foreground immediately, but wait a second before they do.

But I still think there's something with that new VF switch that isn't the diopter, or the new AF / MF selector, and relates to a selectable EVF / OVF Hoya patent quoted in another thread here Friday.
IMO it's nothing as dramatic as that; they just reworked the OVF and made it better. This camera is not a K-5 with added features, they spent quite some time reworking and polishing things.
The camera is amazing as it is; stop thinking about what else it might have.

This question may have already been asked and answerred somewhere. There's just so many posts now! Any information on the rumored 40mp through sensor-shift-trick?! Because that would be a very nice feature, if it can save the aligned files in RAW. And I see the K-3 now can save the HDR images in RAW too, so...

Good question but people seem more interested in how much the bling version will cost.

As long as people buy it, what do you care?
