A lot of people on this forum say we're not easy to please.

I'm sure the AF is a step forward and would be welcome.
I doubt the sensor has much better DR or (normalized) SNR than the 16MP K-5 but we'll see.
It certainly has more MP than the K-5 and it has enough MP that I'd like to get rid of the AA filter, which they've done (yay!). Of course that isn't that much of a development over the K-5IIs.

Overall, I'm sure it's a great camera - almost certainly the best APS-C on the market.

I'm probably not going to purchase it, though, or at least won't until the reviews come in.

I shoot events and used both on the K-7. In the real world the Sigma HSM was faster to acquire and lock than the DA*55mm with SDM. I wasn't sitting around testing it on a brick wall. I have not tried an SDM lens since getting the K-5. I tried 2 copies of the DA*55mm because I really wanted a WR lens in this focal length, but AF consistency and speed was not very good on either copy.

Shooting outdoor events I often do go from 5 to infinity "abruptly".
Not surprised, DA*55 has never been designed for fast AF (that's no excuse though, just an explanation).
Consistency is an issue even more annoying

The "surprise feature" is the AA through SR feature, isn't it?
More likely it's done using the ultrasonic dust removal system or variation of same. SR would be far too slow and imprecise.

The Dust Reduction system is linked to a piece of optical glass in front of the sensor, not to the sensor itself. Don't underestimate the SR.

My thought are going nearly the same way

I think sensor, bayer filter, filter glasses - even if there is no AA-filter there are filters, and the piezo cleaning unit are one block, it may be possible to induce some movement by the piezo shaker.

According to the official specs, the K-3 has focus peaking and manually adjustable audio recording level. There is also a new coating on the pentaprism to increase the brightness of the OVF.

8.3 fps looks like it's for JPEG. 4.5fps for raw.

I wonder if it will be able to do that composite technique for getting MF resolution via the RAW composite shooting mode. It's not mentioned in the spec's but I can see that being a variation on the auto RAW HDR modes.
