I think I will hold onto my K5iis since it is the last of the Pentax cameras. It appears that the K3 has become the first of the Ricoh Pentaxes, kind of like Ricoh Lumixes, etc.

The Toshiba sensor found in the d7100 and d5000 really did not impress me, I couldn't find any real difference between these and the 16mp pentax. With the exception that the K-5 IIs which, to my eyes was the sharpest. Maybe Pentax has got few tricks to improve the IQ of this sensor, since I don't have the money it will be easy to wait for more reviews and image samples. I hope the IQ does not disappoint, otherwise the K-3 looks pretty sweet.

Pre -ordered

First post on the forum - just pre-ordered the K3. This will be a big step up from the K200 I've been using for many years.

I saw the memory card mentioned, but not the spare battery - is this definitely included.

Wonder if it will have the banding issue the D7100 has, if it's the same sensor?????
I'd also like a comparison between the AF speed and accuracy on this (for non BIF!) vs the K5IIs

Yes it does, there was a pic of it being in the menu.

I think the fact that there isn't any real difference in image quality between the two, but one has 50% more pixels is a bit impressive.

+1 After all the comments over the last year or so that going to higher MP in APS-C would inevitably reduce IQ. Having the same IQ as the k-5IIs but with 24MP is amazing to me. Expected, but amazing.

No, apparently the battery is not included. Adam said they (B&H) must have decided not to include it. Didn't show up when I ordered either. Still, it's a nice card they're including.

Let's not forget that Pentax regularly gets better performance and IQ out of a given sensor than other manufacturers. Sony, especially. Let's hope that continues.

Wow. I generally take my time upgrading, but despite the fact that I bought a K-5 less than a year ago, this has me seriously considering an order. I'll probably come to my senses by tomorrow morning, but this is a tempting upgrade.

New accessory: "Pentax" labels to cover up "Ricoh" under the lcd display.
