The way the APS-C birding brigade from canikon are talking about the lack of pro-aps-c bodies the 400ish zoom would be ideal for bringing more people over to the K3.
The limited zoom would seem to be a good choice as a FF lens, so that there is something widish for if/when the FF body comes along.
The 16/17-70/85 (hopefully HD & AW)would be great pairing with the 60-250.

Could be; most of the 'well sourced' rumours that were circulating in the spring have now happened, except notably the 645D II wasn't announced... yet. But all the other bits that were whispered about are here; a new low end; a new flagship, a WR flash, some glass...

Given the short time between the K-7 (2009) and original 645D (2010), which borrowed a big chunk of electronics and software from the K-7... would it be safe to assume that the 645D-II would have been developed at the same time as the K-3, to share costs? Or developed one phase behind; such that as designs for the subcomponents were frozen for the K3, the 645 team could then take them and see what could be done... given the larger files, etc. I wonder if they'll ever do SR for MF... what would it be +/- 3mm of displacement? That's a whole lot!

Wishful thinking, I guess. I don't even know if a newer sensor exists that would be available, or if the old sensor is still being made post-Kodak. I wonder if the newer Prime + firmware would make the existing sensor feel any snappier?

Or... maybe the telephoto zoom out to 370 or 380 ?? But a teleconvertor would sell like hot cakes!
Hopefully both of those, and that long zoom is WR.

A K-300 - the K-3, but with no visible focus points, no WR, and which runs on AA's and costs 40% less?

The rep was mentioning that Ricoh have a much different approach to product development, with a single person having responsibility to project manage a product through to production. Apparently a slightly more relaxed approach was taken.

I reckon the next thing out of Ricoh will be a two-fingered salute, for all the whingers who still aren't happy with what's come out in recent months (K500, K50, K3 etc.)
But while we're on the subject, I'd like a few more lenses in the "affordable but good" range. Wide angle, long telephoto etc.

Regards

Maybe....

Since it's almost 2014, how about a lens (size) Pentax hasn't produced in many years, in fact the last one was introduced in 2007. It is one of the most popular Nikon, Canon and 3rd party sizes, useful for a wide range of outdoor events and sure to be a good seller if the price is fair and in line with the competition.
An 80-200mm f/2.8 ED IF HD WR. No power zoom, thank you. I'd guess $1,000-$1,200 range. Silver would be nice, with big 'PENTAX' lettering on the hood.
JMO, YMMV

I'll add some fuel here.

I visited my local camera shop and I was talking with the sales associate about how wonderful the K-3 is on paper. His response?

"Yep, looks like Pentax got their first camera out."

Wait!! Is there a second? The conversation got real quiet and we started talking about M42 lenses.

I have no insider information, but I could very well imagine 645D II could be the next body to be introduced. To a great extent the 645D was based on the technologies developed for the K-7 and K-5. Now the competition is catching on the 645D, and Pentax has a new technology platform. In a way it would be logical to build on this, and update the flagship of the brand.
