Thanks for that very interesting reply, noser, and congrats on your new purchase! I'll admit I've been tempted to try this route myself. There is a popular street photographer in this town who uses all sorts of old MF and plate cameras with superb results - see here.
That is some outstanding work! I'm going to do some reading on the stock and techniques used.

TI'm just interested in the way digital photography is going, I suppose. All sorts of new things are coming out so there are plenty of changes in store. Even so I suppose the best camera I've ever owned was an FE2 back in the day. It survived 3-4 trips to India, got doused in gasolene at one point, was used as a club to fight off a pariah dog, was dropped onto pavements - you name it. But it never failed to work and compared to today's cameras both it and a fast fifty were a snap to carry.
I like 35mm for fast work. I got hung up trying to outguess digital, but after a couple of years I really noticed what I was really most interested in was the result of certain optics. 85mm on FF is one of my faves. 50mm on APS-C is close, but still different. Whoever said 'pick your lenses first and the body second' was a genius.

I wish I'd heard that piece of advice years ago. It would have saved me a lot of money!

Well, if you picked the wrong woman because you put the wrong glasses on I'd say it would apply. :-)

Beer glasses are usually to blame for that.

Worked for me until I traded my MZ-S for a K10D, then the magical 43mm became a weird 65mm and got consigned to the cupboard.

couldn't agree more. I hardly need anything else than a 35mm and a 85mm!

35mm (or 31mm), 50mm, & 85mm for me.

I would be happy if Pentax would update the 31mm, 43mm, & 77mm.
