What's more absurd: the K3 isn't even out yet. Why would anyone expect anything in terms of manual localisation!?!?

We can't download Russian manuals for Pentax cameras for a long time. Even for discontinued cameras.
It's unreal. No any manual at Russia site of Ricoh
http://www.ricoh-imaging.ru/ru/service-centres.html

There are no Russian manuals at European site

Download operating manuals - RICOH IMAGING UK LTD.

Isn't USB3 connector backward compatible with USB2?

Not completely. This illustrates the differences nicely:

It's a bit cheap of Ricoh not to include a USB cable with the K-3 though.
The K-5 came with one in the box, even the K-x did.

I have a whole pile of USB cables. I rather like the current trend not to include common cables; I don't want another cable I have to give away or recycle.

The English manual didn't mention HSS for the built in flash, I don't know if that has already been said around here. I thought that would have been kind of cool, but not especially useful at a guide number of only about 7m.

Yeah, it's been discussed in depth. Have a look at the threads in the K-3 section. There are about 5 flash threads in there now.

Thank you. It's more or less what I had in mind though indeed, it works with microUSB and not Minis (more common until recently).
Fortunately most people have a spare microUSB cable around.

Agreed! I haven't even taken the USB cable that came with my K-5 out of its plastic wrapping in its box.

There is a Green effort in EU to standardize such things as batteries and chargers and cables so as to be conservation-minded and reduce the redundant supplying of attachments with each iteration of every electronic device. Sometimes a decision that feels cheap to a buyer is driven by some obscure regional regulation that we can't know about outside the region - though I don't know if that applies here.
