Too low; Pentax does not have already-made components and the economy of scale to undercut the competition's prices.
I would guess a higher end product, around 2500 euro/usd.
I agree with your assessment... but FYI the Canon 6D was $1570 a couple of weeks ago.

I don't care if the camera is $2k or $3.5k as long as it's a reasonable value for the money. At $4k I'm a Nikonian.

Never trust the Russians ... and that comes from a Russian friend .
So while the rumors are nice and dandy and make you dream and hope... I will only believe the official news.

As for prices, I do see it coming close to $2000 easily (body only). If they apply the same thinking they have for their lenses, I could easily see the camera above $2000.
Unless is some sort of marketing strategy and they priced their lenses high so they can grab as much possible and then when they release FF line-up they lower the prices for the APS-C cameras and lenses!?
All guess work...

It will have to have a redesigned SR, shutter, pentaprism/VF, and sensor. It might come down to $1,800 after a few months, but I would expect it to be closer to $2,500 at launch. Pentax will get a premium for the body since it will be a low volume seller. It will take time to build a FF user base and bring the glass back. The pricing is just based on the cost of the components.
As much of the K3 work as possible will be reused - but - Winder is correct about the SR, shutter and VF, then add the sensor and buffer for large files.

IMHO the camera will be priced at B&H/Adorama bewtween the D610 ($2000 body-only) and D800E ($2,999 body-only) with better features than the price would indicate, so the value will lie in features / dollar like the K3 - so $2,399 or $2,499.

Following your reasoning it would lead to an average equivalent price of 2400 EUR in europe. With the logic of pentax being better value for less money, this FF should bring same or better perf as D800E for a price that is twice as much as K3. I am sure that pentax can achieve that but I am puzzled about customer base and people really willing to invest that much into a body, FF glass being not cheap...
I still believe a FF success will depend on this acceptable price difference vs K3 making it easy for upper pentax clients to "leave" APSC for good. Success = 1/(Pff-Pk3)^n assuming prices are different...
1500 EUR sounds good to me even if most people here believe it is unrealistic. Maybe just a better D610 for less money?
No idea yet whether I would buy one whatever price point so I am quite "neutral"

From my perspective Pentax is trying to get away from that paradigm.

Not true at all regarding bodies (IMO).
Regarding lenses though, I can only agree.

You're right. The bodies are cost competitive or a hundred bucks off, so maybe $200? for a more-expensive body.

Maybe. But we already have a D610. Pentax seems to exploit gaps and niches that the oher guys have left open. There's a gap between 610 and 800

I like Pentax's user interface better. I'm willing to pay a bit of a premium but not an insane one.

I've said it before, a neo-Spotmatic would be a horrible waste of a FF sensor, at least as a flagship. No pro wants to use that form factor all day. .
Especially if you pull a Nikon and price it at $3000

Maybe a stripped down FF for a $1500 price sure, or if they offered a mirrorless and a mirrored option. So a mirrorless option with a swappable viewfinder like a lot of the add-on ones for MFT cameras, just not as ugly and included in the original kit, and you could retro style this. Then a standard modern DSLR that use the K3 feature set/body.
