All those photos are taken with the lens focused at infinity too, so it will get bigger as it focuses closer.

That's a damn fine-looking lens on a damn fine-looking camera. 21st century technology meets 1960s styling = perfect!

Haha, istDS and possibly with kitlens ^^;

Why is it that every single image of this lens in existence, the zoom ring is at 30mm? I'm having a bad feeling about it. Is it most compact at that FL?

Looking at those photos again I think you're right, the barrel protrudes a bit at infinity and in another photo looks to be flush

The article suggests it's pretty light for its size - 291g. It also says that three HD DA lenses are to follow - 100-400mm, 10-30mm and 15-85mm in that order. We live in interesting times!

I'm most interested in the 100-400mm DA lens - hopefully It will be good enough to replace my Sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX DG:

Pentax K5IIs with sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX DG

The sigma lens has been having some focus accuracy issues - my FA*250-600mm f/5.6 and FA*300mm f/2.8 doesn't have any problems so it is most likely the lens itself.

With the 20-40, I feel like I'm paying the salary for the people at Ricoh. And o yeah, they give me a lens to say "thank you".
It's outrageous that Ricoh's customers should pay for their salaries!

Yeah - whatever next!!

The 10-30mm is the one that most interests me. That would cover a good range for my type of photography.
