Since the 4's touch the red center line it clearly refers to the 40mm end.
On reflection that makes more sense.

Boy Pentax does like to overlap the same FL and apertures again and again. I hope it's going to be a beautiful and tiny lens. The DC motor is very promising for future lenses!

I'm interested in this lens. I don't have the 21, 35 or 40 Limiteds, so if the IQ is good, this would fill the gap nicely. I already have the old Sigma 20-40 f2.8, which is a full-frame lens, but it's pretty bulky, and I would gladly buy a small zoom with the same FL. The Sigma can wait until Pentax bring out a f...... no, I'm not going to say it!!!

That's a beauty! If the IQ lives up to expectations I will certainly put this lens on my wish list.

Looks interesting... I don't have any limiteds... although I've been pondering the trusty 40 for some time... maybe this might make for a good alternative instead of getting the 21, 35 and 40... will be looking forward to sample photos!

It's a Tak focusing ring on a zoom ring, they sure know how to make people happy lol.

But The zoom ring is on... 30mm?? I hope it stays the same size or more compact at 20mm.

A bit bigger than I was hoping too. With the metal build it might actually be heavier than 18-55. Lets wait until someone posts.

f4 is too slow for my taste (or rather too much DOF) sticking with primes

Nice Takumar touch on that Limited! Maybe it's a good sign for upcoming 'classic' design items
That's what I would expect. This way, the DOF scale is actually useful for when you want everything in focus, regardless of the focal length.

I have to say though, although I realize it is reminiscent of older lenses, I don't think the zoom ring style suits the overall design of the lens. And why put the red ring near the front of the lens, when it is near the rear of all the other Limiteds? It also doesn't seem to be that small, almost 18-55 like. It's probably heavier too.

Being a Limited, you would expect excellent performance even wide-open. But in this case, the lens better be that good, or else I don't see it selling, especially when Sigma offers an 18-35mm 1.8. Sure, that's big and all, but hey, it's a constant 1.8. I know that's not available in Pentax mount, but what if it was?

Pricing could be an issue as well, as it probably won't be cheap.

That said, I do think that this lens could be a nice match with the 15mm and 70mm.

It looks very nicely styled. Would look lovely on a similarly styled camera. I think the the K DSLRs, although nice, are a touch conventional for it.

Given the zoom and aperture range I am hoping it will be extremely solid optically. If it's one of Pentax's best performing lenses I could see it being very popular. I just cringe to think what it will be priced at.

It looks like this was the other lens to be announced before the end of the year then.

If this turns out to be good I'll buy. Had to return a Tamron 17-50 because of focusing issues. 20-40 is a nice addition to my Sigma 12-24.

There are rumours of a K-02?
