"Et surtout, des surprises vous attendent sur notre stand!"

Of course, one of these surprises will be the HD DA 20-40/2.8-4 Limited. But the other surprise(s)???
Man, she has a long neck.

Yes there was. I seem to remember one poster (Uluru?) indicating that they knew about it's existence and that it was constant f/2.8 and remarkable for it's range, something like 16-70.

So that lens - whatever the reality of its specs - could be one surprise.

So:

1) Wide Q zoom
2) HD limited zoom
3) 2.8 mid zoom

Could be the the surprises.
18-70/2.8
It was meant to be announced together with K-3 now in November.
But K-3 was announced earlier most likely because of that September 5th rumoured announcement, which turned into a huge disappointment for fans.
Ricoh doesn't have much to show at once, they are just spreading it across many months.

An 18-70 f/2.8 would be a substantial lens unless Pentax can somehow shrink the non-optical parts of the lens - i.e. size of the housing, whatever AF motor they go with etc.

However such a lens would be expected to be WR and with a 20mm more on the long end (even if it's 2mm longer on the short end as well) it'll be a fair bit bigger than the 16-50 which is already heavy.

Maybe Pentax will show the K-02 in a retrostyle like the new Nikon Df or the new Sony a7

This support the theory that no */SDM-lenses have been introduced lately since future pro bodies will not be crop sensor.

The so-called surprises aren't surprises any longer:

- HD Pentax-DA 20-40mm f/2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR

- Pentax-08 Wide Zoom (3,8-5,9mm f/3.7-4 equivalent to 17.5-27mm on Q7)

That's the trouble with surprises, they can only surprise you once…. after that, they aren't a surprise anymore. UNless of course it's your little brother jumping out of a closet with a zombie mask on, and after a hill, even that gets old.

Is that a weird special step-up ring on the third ltd zoom image? I think I can see DC on the very end of it.

Isn't it rather tiny for a lens hood? unless HD is so flare resistance that only light from the steepest of angles could cause flare
