That is not correct. It was on the 2008 roadmap. Hoya did not provide a lens roadmap and according to asahiman, they shut down the TC project. Ricoh put it back on the roadmap in 2013.
Thanks Dan, I've been waiting since I bought my K-5 - hope it is here soon - 6 years is still a long time but the good news is the Ricoh has demonstrated getting results.

I wish they'd just produce this guy with a DC motor.

Regarding the rear converter, after being on the 2008 roadmap and even shown at CP+ (a prototype, under glass) - the 2009 roadmap didn't had it.
So it's not correct to say "Hoya did not provide a lens roadmap" - they did, and they excluded the RC from it. The DA super telephoto was still on the 2009 roadmap, but didn't make it into production.
There was no 2010 roadmap, but then there were only 2 lenses in 2010 - the 35mm f/2.4 and the 18-135, and nothing in 2011. Cost cutting at its finest

The consecutive Pentax K-mount lens roadmaps (except for the current one) are available, thanks to Asahiflex, here:

And it's been pushed back to 2014. I bet we'll see it at CP+!
And when is this "CP+" event??

If they actually do offer this TC I will buy it immediately. Then I might be able to squeak by with the DA 300 for birding instead of having to purchase the costly Sigma 300 2.8!

Updated the first post with the latest roadmap in which the SMC Pentax-DA 55-300 ED was replaced with the HD Pentax-DA 55-300 ED WR.
Actually three updated roadmaps appeared today: for K mount, Q mount and Pentax 645 mount.

Pentax K

- Addition of HD Pentax-DA 20-40 mm f/2,8-4 ED Limited DC WR replacing the former DA Zoom Limited
- The converter is now labelled HD: HD Pentax-DA AF RC 1.4x
- Together with DA Wide Zoom, DA Zoom and DA Tele Zoom, it is now scheduled for "2014 of later" instead of "2013 or later"

Pentax Q

- Addition of Pentax-08 replacing the former Wide Lens
- Telephoto Macro" is now scheduled for "2014 of later" instead of "2013 or later"

http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/products/lens/Q_Mount_Lens.pdf

Pentax 645

- The 3 expected lenses (Wide Zoom, Standard Zoom and Tele Zoom) are now scheduled for "2014 of later" instead of "2013 or later".

Hence, except if there is a surprise, no new lens should be announced this year.

I sometimes believe Pentax team thinks they were supposed to design a hockey puck, not a lens converter, and therefore its purpose is hitting it hard to move around roadmaps and timeline as farther as possible.

And here's the picture of the Pentax TC development team celebrating — they won the championship "hit the TC to go as farther as possible" for 5 consecutive years! They're Japan's undefeated champions.

All I can say after the arrival of my K-3 today is "thank you Ricoh" if this is an indication of things to come we'll all be happy. That said I really want a TC!

k3 arrive

my K3 showed up today as well---met the UPS truck in my driveway. The first look suggests that it is materially better
in lowlight than even my K5. I am thrilled..... As for the converter, I'm looking forward to it.---profoundly if it supports the screw
focus lenses as well as the SDM's. I made a calculated decision to stock up on some long FA* glass the 300 and 600mm models
and I'm hoping this converter makes them shine.

Likewise it will be a challenge to make the lens correction things work through a converter, but I suspect it's things like this that
have given them pause.

Judging by the 560mm and the dropping of all future DA* designation makes me wonder if that line will be dropped.
