But, I'll add, Pentax USA is the one that determines the prices over here. If they want to set them higher, that's what they'll do. Doesn't mean we won't get some nice black friday rebates, though!

Sounds fair enough for a premium metal lens IMHO. If you want value, get a K-50

Then expect to pay a premium if you want to treat yourself to a luxury lens. Just saying!

In these images it looks like it is actually bigger than the FA31. Also, why is the lens set to 30mm in every image that has been released so far?

I thought it looked a bit smaller, and the different font of the lettering on the HD lenses is bigger than on the FA/DA ltds.

On the RICOH specs it looks like its 55mm hood/filters and weighs about 290g.

FA31 of course is 58mm and 336g - mainly because it's load chock full of pixie dust of course

The marketing department set it in the centre at 30mm I suspect.

It's like, Why are all analog clock faces in sales brochures set with hands to 10:08. ?

FA31 is 68,5mm long and DA 20-40 is 68,5mm long if you tage a look at the technical details. But FA31 has 65mm Diameter and the DA Zoom 71mm

IMO thats a bad thing, it will give me huge ocd as I like keeping lenses on their minimum size.

I guess I can't conclusively say that until I use it myself though. zero zoom creep might make that concept obsolete.

Let's give this thread a photo...

And that's beautiful!
Now, I think I'm going to get this 20-40mm instead of the 16-50mm...
This set-up is like a Leica in the world of DSLR...

So this means that it bigger then the K-01 mount-plate wich is 65mm.

How about a Silver DA 20-40 on a Silver K-3, wouldn't that look awesome.
