Otis has everything "DPR" blocked on my computers, and says it wouldn't matter anyhow, I'd be banned the second I opened up the page.
Regards!

The Pentax K-3 got a decent mention. They could have said more about it, but they also could have said less.

They also praised the K-50 for its impressive value for money ratio (in particular the 100% viewfinder).

Travel Photography: Pentax got no mention with their small, weather-sealed cameras and lenses. No DSLRs got mentioned though.

Street Photography: An opportunity to mention the quiet operation of Pentax DSLRs was missed.

Trends & Innovations: Sadly, the K-3's AA-filter simulator wasn't mentioned. It had been mentioned before, but AFAIC deserved another mention in this category.

John Carlson missed opportunities to talk about the flu card, advantages of DSLR's over mirrorless - could have been more proactive in shooting down gimicky features. Wasn't too pleased with his performance to be honest. k500, k50 not mentioned at all. Theta as the future of photography? cmon....

I think I have been noticing not just DP review but most photo sites as giving pentax props as a great option for someone looking for an APS-C DSLR. Things like Pentax having the most complete lineup of APS-C lenses and such. I think with the launch of accessibly priced FF from Canon, Nikon, and Sony they probably feel that high-end APS-C will not be addressed by anyone other than an APS-C-only player like Pentax (DSLR) or Fuji (MILC). Neglecting high-end APS-C which might cannibalize sales of starter FF cameras certainly makes business sense for C/N/S. I hope (almost wrote "I am sure" then remembered which company we are talking about) the Pentax PR agents could drill this message into the photography press core who is probably more free to write stories which recommend a K-50 or K-3 as great products which I have seen numerous times at DPR and other outlets.

Didn't watch the whole 'show' but will say for the hour and a half I wasted watching they didn't mention any Pentax cameras outside of the K01 and the name 'K-3'.. probably not worth the watch unless you are simply interested in summaries of what is already in text on dpreview. hehe

Yes, unfortunately, no positive surprises from him.

The representatives from Sony and Samsung were much more knowledgeable, convincing, and confident.

Too bad John Carlson did not grab the opportunity to talk about the great APS-C lens line up with its emphasis one small size and low weight. Instead he went the other direction and stated that miniaturisation has its limits. In soccer terms, the question he was asked (about the small & light direction of Pentax) was a great assist pass but he failed to score from it.

He also could have pointed out that neither back LCDs in sunlight nor current EVFs can touch the optical viewfinder experience of a DSLR and how Pentax provides 100% coverage even in their entry level models. The DPReview staff did a better job of pointing that out!

Regarding the FLUcard, maybe John Carlson felt awkward mentioning it in the presence of the Eye-Fi founder, but he should have definitely mentioned the K-3's connectivity features including remote tethering from a mobile device.

You don't want a company representative to push their products in your face all the time, but when there are clear opportunities to highlight products, they shouldn't be missed. Disappointing, once again.

Be nice if they tapped into the knowledge and passion from some select members here to act as representatives...

My thoughts exactly.

You, for example, would have been a much better choice.
