It looks like it is available for purchase now.

Does anyone here have it yet, or know of any sample pictures on the net?

If this preforms as good as the 200mm, I cant wait to get it.

That's one mean looking lens. The images are amazing. Close focus is such a plus, good enough for butterfly shot. At 1.4m, anyone knows what kind of magnification this is?

According to PENTAX the magnification is 0.24x, or essentially 1:4.

A local retailer has them listed at $1399 CDN (though they have no stock as yet). It's definitely a lens I'm interested in seeing in the flesh so to speak.

Reputed German dealer tekade told us that he starts shipping to preregistered buyers now but that it will be in "open sales" soon

For those wondering about the sharpness of this lens, I've started posting some of my pictures with it and my K20D, I've only had 2 outings with it so far:

It's a lovely lens. Light, versatile and SDM is great. There is a very small amount of PF wide-open in extreme circumstances, but the sharpness more than makes up for it.

They are selling here for $1298.32 Canadian. I have bought lenses from them so they are reputable, if anyone was wondering.

As tempting as this lens may be I know I just can't afford it.

Maybe when the 55-300mm comes out later this year I can let the LBA bug bite me again.

I bought a FA 50mm f1.4 from them recently. I had waited over a month for them to receive a backorder from Pentax. Sheena emailed me Monday and said the Pentax lenses arrived late Friday. I know my 50mm was in the shipment but not sure if the DA*300 was there too as I had not teased myself by inquiring about it.

Eventually I would like a quality long lens to add to my collection, but I can't afford it right now.

Only up to 40% size images. Not possible to judge lens sharpness from the images you posted.
