Yowch. Is that really about $770 USD? I had hoped it would be in the $450 range so I could pick it up when it came out. For $770, I'll kick in an extra $100 and get the Pentax 15mm.

Probably won't be that much. No more than $500 here, I would guess.

I was looking for a wide fast lens for Aurora Borealis and didn't find any perfect lens for Pentax. Right now I have the Sigma 20/1.8.
I was looking at zooms, but they are all pretty slow for the northern lights (where are you Tokina?).
I was looking at the 14/2.8 or the 16/2.0 but non are really that extremely wide.
I was looking at the 15/4 but it's a tad slow.
I was looking at the Sigma 10/2.8 fisheye, but it's less versatile due to being a fisheye.

Then this one got a release date!
I was looking for the same thing, so this lens is great news. Now if the sun could really reach it's predicted maximum activity after January, that would be even better!

Euro prices and US prices usually end up the same (i.e. €1 = $1) because Euro prices include VAT (value added tax), and international goods generally have a higher markup in Europe for whatever reason.

Big difference between 10mm and 15mm.

$500 is definitely attractive. I'll be game for trying that out at the store and seeing how I like it. If i get it, I'm looking forward to trying it on a film camera to see how much extra image circle exists.

usually I tend to buy fast lenses (larger than f/2.0), however, in the case of (extreme) wide-angle lenses I want them small (I love the 15mm), so I would love a 15mm-limited-sized 10mm f/5.6

Weather seal it and I'd be prepared to pay very well for that.

Though for astro stuff the opposite is true.

For those interested in conclusions from analogy, I posted some samples and first impressions of the Samyang 16mm here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/130-lens-sample-photo-archive/245944-samyang-16mm-f-2-a.html

Actually I think the price of this lens is pretty low and attractive! It's a prime with quite impressive data. Please consider the prices of ultra WA lenses from Canon, Nikon and Zeiss to be fair.
Not everything is made in PRC by underpaid migrant workers. Thank goodness!

It's big and heavy, the integrated lens shade is bulky?
Again, what do you expect? It's a special lens and I like effectice lens shades, they are a must – no serious user should buy/use lenses without one.
And some people obviously miss auto focus - come on, who needs AF at such an extreme wide angle lens?

I'm happy that finally someone introduced a really short prime lens for Pentax cameras.

Dunno how good this is - waiting for the reviews! This might be the lens to photograph auroras if it's good enough on wide open!
