News regarding Pentax sales organization

There is a post on The Online Photographer ( The Online Photographer) that quotes Ned Bunnell on the subject of Pentax doing a reorg of their US sales organization. It appears that they are going to a channel driven structure versus account driven, which will/has caused some attrition in the ranks. They are looking for new people, so maybe this is an opportunity for someone reading this. The TOP post starts off by describing some dealer as turning this into another "out of business" rumor.
Today's New York Times Magazine Section contains a full page ad for the K10D/K200D; this is a first in this publication (in my memory) and shows that Mr. Bunnell et. al. are getting serious. Nice ad by the way; probably a new ad agency here.

It's about time. The old model was outdated and needed to be changed. It remains to be seen if Pentax USA takes full advantage of the new marketing opportunities that are available. It's "nice" that Ned is "one of us" but if he hires people steeped in traditional marketing priciples rather than innovative thinkers it will be "business as usual". Hard copy ads might make us proud of seeing the Pentax name in print but are very cost inefficient in todays electronic world. I sure hope they are taking a look at what a relatively small company like Lowpro is doing to stretch their advertising budget.

Regards,
Ken

Yeah, given the current poor retail presence, this can only be good.

A similar situation has heppened in the UK, they have sacked all their reps (according to an indpendent store) and will restructure, with the chains selling Pentax instead.
