FA LIMITED will be updated soon

Ricoh official told publicly about the "revamping" of the three FA Limited lenses, with details as follows:

- The "update" will happen soon,
- The Japanese style green "pearl" of the lens-changing mark on the existing Pentax 31 and 77 Limited lenses will be removed,
- The new lens will still be screw-driven for the AF, i.e., no SDM nor DC nor whatsoever in-lens AF motor,
- New HD lens coating will replace the old SMC one for better performance,
- Ricoh red ring will be added

All to be expected.

You forgot to mention that the prices will be increased by 30%.

Only a minimal refreshing of the FA Limiteds. I guess this underpins the future appearance of a 35FF body, but it makes me wonder why they didn't move to a DC drive, to make it more attractive. Perhaps it was necessary, just to shift all Limited lens coatings across to HD, and the other cosmetic changes are merely convenient low-cost add-ons.

I assume they'll also be adding Quickshift to them, otherwise just a minor coating and aperture blade update like the DA Limiteds.

The biggest remaining question is if they will still retain the aperture ring.

That 'news' was kind of obvious, so it is not real news or anything truly unexpected. Ricoh is obviously happy to feed us all with common knowledge only, as long as they are getting ready to show something.
DC motor is obviously out of question because that would change the design completely. I hope for their own sake the aperture ring will stay if they are to build an FF camera with better backwards compatibility (better manual control of all FF lenses done in the past, or, fully de-crippled K-mount) than the current K-3 et al.
Quick shift, hopefully.

I am much more interested in the fate of DA* lenses, though, and how this HD streamlining will affect them and at what level.

+1 with uluru, but encouraging leak anyway !
Indeed : it gives kind of confirmation that the Pentax FF will be K-mounted.
I imagine the aperture rings will still be there.

Impatient to try mine with forthcomming digital FF.

I have a feeling that the FF offer from Pentax will go in a different direction than K-mount DA (APS-C) option.
I believe they will make a clear distinction between the two, and don't be surprised if every single FF lens comes with an aperture ring. I suspect they will build K-mount APS-C line for speed and convenience, electronic aperture control, etc. But the K-mount FF line for sheer photographic bonanza and amazing shooting experience. It won't be a slouch, though, nor crippled like Nikon Df, but it won't go in direct competition with N and C behemoths; rather, create its own set of values.

Well I hope the next step will be making two new FA Ltd lenses. One wide-angle and one short telelens.

Obvious... But still very good news! We all know with Pentax, the update could also have come in about 5 to 7 years from now.

I hope they add QS, maybe WR. And I hope they leave the metal build, DoF scales, aperture ring and the aperture blades (don't think there is a need to round them)!
Good sign, though.

QuickShift is a given, if they don't they are very stupid. HD will come too of course.
If aperture ring could stay, it'd be VERY nice
WR would be icing on the cake

No WR is disappointing :-P
Wonder what that'll do to the resale value of the ones I have already? :-(

The HD coating would help w/ flare quite a bit but unfortunately won't fix the soft edges on the 43Ltd on FF...

I hope for added WR and BRrr...

For me all this is bad sign. They are beating dead horse and found a way to make it jump one more time - changing some paint on glass and body.

I suspect part of the reason behind this revamp is to rationalize production and if I am correct we will see QS, rounded blades and loss of aperture rings.
