Any rumors on the, hopefully still upcoming, 15mm Limited?

When I first saw it on the roadmap, I was not interested. But strangely this disinterest has turned into a weird eagerness to own this lens. I really can't explain the transformation, maybe as winter turns to spring I have more of a desire to shoot wide angle landscapes.

Any news or rumors to share?

I think mostly, size. I hope being limited it will be surprisingly small.

I am completely excited about this lens. I am hoping for something distinctly smaller than the 14mm with better distortion characteristics, weighing in around 250g and f/3.2.

Is this realistic I wonder? After all it's got to compete with the 16-45mm f/4 which is 365g and an amazing deal for $300.

That's why I'm looking forward to it. I love my 14mm, but I've got some singh-ray filters in a cokin 'p' mount which vignette with it. If the smaller size lets me use my gold'n'blue polarizer without vignetting, I'll gladly sacrifice the 1mm on the wide end for it.

I would expect 15mm/4 but that's just a guess.

That would make this lens gigantic. I would prefer a slow and small lens (f/3.5-f/4) to a big/heavy fast lens (f/2.8). If you want fast, get the 14mm

That's not the trend/theme of the current DA limited. Also, if they decide to go for high speed, that would obliterate the DA 14 sale as well. The attraction of these DA limited is in small size with a little compromise in speed.

Perhaps. But that would not make me give up my 16-45mm, which just produced some fantastic Pentaxium images. (I'm still choosing which ones to upload.) This lens would have to be faster and smaller. I'm crossing my fingers for f/3.2 but, yeah, that might not be realistic.

I’m guessing f/4.5 in a pancake edition, and coming in at around 160-200 grams.
It would be the perfect lens in a hiking / travel light kit, together with DA 70.

The DA 21 lmt. is lovely, but it could be wider.

oh man, if it was a pancake I think I would get it for just that reason- hiking. carrying around the (relatively) massive 14mm in slot canyons is not fun.

I'm guessing DA15/4 too. To me this will be the long awaited replacement for my 24mm that I loved so much in my analog days!

Though there's only one real certainty with this lens... That is that I'm buying one as soon as they are available!!

Hi Wim,

which 24 mm did you use on film ? The K, the A or the FA* version ?
