Half don't know that, and the other half only wants to discuss meaningless statistics. Ain't it grand?
No statistics are meaningless; otherwise, we wouldn't lie with them so much.

Good point! There are a few members here with systems other than, or in addition to Pentax, though.

In case anybody's been looking forward to images of something besides test charts (I know I have), a Korean website has posted a series of samples wide-open with a 5D MkII. Allegedly. They're viewable at full size, too.

Gear for Image :: Wide Open Images of Sigma 50mm f1.4 DG HSM ART

Sadly, they don't tell you much about its OOF rendering. We don't buy f/1.4 to shoot walls wide open...

I think that is to soon to tell that Sigma 50/1,4 Art will not come in K mount ever. Other Sigma Art lenses were originally released only for Canon, Nikon and Sony, and then were made for Pentax. I think it all depends on how much demand there is. And from what I see, Pentax is gaining ground.

I have a Sigma prime for my M43 camera and I must admit I am very impressed. It's much better than I ever would have thought it would be given the price point. Very sharp, very well made, metal mount. If this lens is anything like I'll be it's a good bang for the buck.

Actually up until now, Sony was always in the same boat as Pentax for Sigma's "Global Vision" lenses. The 18-35mm was originally only announced for Canon, Nikon and Sigma. Later they announced it for Sony and Pentax at the same time. Same thing for the 30mm f/1.4 Art. The 35mm f/1.4 was finally shipped at exactly the same time for both Sony and Pentax. Neither ever got the 120-300mm.

This is the very first Sigma "Global Vision" lens that has been announced for Sony but not for Pentax. That is a very bad sign IMO.

I've downloaded the test photos made by Imagine Resources, and my conclusion is that Zeiss Otus has a small advantage in contrast. Studying the pictures at 3:1, I have seen that at extreme corners, Sigma 50/1,4 Art is a little better at CA. In fact, Sigma CA is almost invisible, even at 3:1, but can be seen in Zeiss Otus.

Exceptional lenses both. But Zeiss has no AF, is much heavier, and if this price of Sigma is right (1000$), the choice is simple. I hope it will come in Pentax mount too.
The choice is simple?

And £849.99 for the Brits. Now the question is when (if ever) for Pentax.

Awesome. I think I'd rather have this lens than, say, the Sony 50mm F/1.8 which is about the same price... both pretty high but with pretty good performance.
