New Ricoh patent for a 16mm/2.8 lens designed for APS-C MILC

Looks like it's for a GR-like camera though: GoogleTraduction

Who knows what that one may be (it's 24mm equivalent in 135 format, right?)
But I think that the other patent for a fast 21-84mm lens for 1/1.7" sensor is much more exciting.
MX-2 or something like that ...

The 16mm patent would be 21mm equivalent and Ricoh used to make 21mm GR camera in the film days. It's also worth noting that Ricoh has similar patents for a 35mm equivalent lens at f2.5 and a 40mm equivalent lens at f1.9. These predate the the current GR camera and were assumed to be for GXR modules, but either could be used in a GR-style camera.

21mm in 135 format would be 14mm in APS-C. And Ricoh already has a 21mm adapter lens for the GR, which is extremely good.
16mm is 16x1.5=24mm in 135 format. Therefore I said God only knows what that patent may implicate, if anything at all.

I would love to see a thread that compares the amount of lens patents that Pentax/Ricoh have to how many they actually produce.

Good point, Ha Horuk. They may be filing patents just to block someone else vs. protect what they want to make.
