Except for the "60" and the tiny little "Wi-Fi" under the SR badge. Hmm. Where did you find this? Did you make it up?

I want to see new lenses from pentax at any show. a telephoto, an HD AW teleconverter and something mid range to get the juices flowing.

What would you guys think if this 135-380 was basically the equivelent of the current Canon 100-400 f 4.5/5.6 for somewhere around $1600? How is that lens regarded in the Canon world? What's the closest equivelent in the Nikon world?

I was figuring that if the lens was similar in quality to the DA*300mm F4 that we'd be looking at $2,000....

Why does everyone assume it is a DA* quality lens? It is listed as a DA on the roadmap and it is variable aperture.

had to lol with this. =)) I wonder how many people seriously took up the idea of getting a Canon 100D? Though given the same question, I didn't hear a lot of excitement for the K-500 either... even though it had a pentaprism viewfinder and 9 cross-type AF points. Or 60fps movie mode.

anyways, seems all the players are holding back for 9 more days... then it's a riot.

Ricoh GR update with Wi-Fi and better video. Maybe the woe package WR. And knock $100 off.

Just sayin'
Times are indeed more interesting for exotic birds of fancy feathers. They will chirp around CP+ more than sedated hens and geese in Nikonís and Canonís barns.

It is very sad photo journalists and bloggers donít realise this most interesting fact: that in times when big players are exhausted and sweating madly to lose weight, we can breathe some fresh air and clear the stench of the imaging arena by opening alternative exit doors and windows.
Instead, every one of them seem to mourn together with big two fatties.

Storks.

Just wishful thinking on my part. I'm hoping for a quality longer lens than the DA*300 with comparable quality and sharpness. If the new telephoto is "just a DA" then I'll go with the DA*300 along with the new TC for a nice birding lens, just a little short on reach I suspect that a moderately priced DA 135-380 lens well sell more than a DA* version which will make Ricoh more money and I understand that. I've just been hoping for a nice quality lens that's longer than the DA*300 but not costing $3,500 like the Sigma 2.8. I'm afraid that maybe Ricoh got soured on expensive long lenses after their experience with the 560mm telescope.... And maybe there isn't any practical middle ground between wildly expensive long telephoto lenses and inexpensive slow lenses?? Or maybe the "middle" market isn't there

A DA ~135-380 would pair withe DA 18-135 for a 2-lens WR economical kit. Throw in a WR 12-24 or 10-20ish and that's a complete 3-lens WR kit.

I suspect the TC's main purpose is to give better range for the DA*200/300/60-250 lenses.

That really makes good sense and I'm sure it will be a very popular combination. If that ends up being the case then I would probably have to go with the DA*300 and new TC for birding and eventually the DA*60-250 to go between the DA*300 and my DA*16-50. I better start saving big time!

I just bought one of these and thought my lens buying days were over. I haven't used it too much, but I can already see a use for this TC if it does indeed come out.
