Reporting requirements are tougher in the U.S., but you will typically find only revenue, not operating margin, reported for separate business units or by geographical region. The market intelligence business makes a lot of money by getting customers to supply more detailed information which is then combined with information from other customers, fudged a bit to keep true figures confidential, and sold to competitors, so the executive branch can have more detailed reports and plans. It's a high stakes poker game where the value of legally and illegally obtained information is never guaranteed.
