The additional comments being made benefit the poster towards winning the contest and often the give and take are totally off topic from the thread subject. I have been giving out more likes to reward the good posts instead of a "nice shot" comment. I can't wait for March to arrive and the spamfest to end. Tim
Does it really matter if we go off topic and banter a bit? I've rather enjoyed many of the complain-fests about the weather I agree viewers could just give a like to the OP rather than posting something as comprehensive as "nice shot" which benefits the postee, but either way the OP gets some feedback on the shot. I'm one of the freeloaders on this site, so I'm happy enough with the site with or without the contest - and I'm not going to be critical for an interesting and generous initiative the Adam (& Co) set up.

Prior to the contest I had gotten into a rut - I'd play the caption contest weekly challenge if the image inspired, I'd check the Marketplace like a window shopper with intense OCD, and maybe look at a few photos from veterans who I knew never disappointed. This contest has brought out a lot more photographers and gotten them to post their images and comment on other - generally all positive, and a useful cure to the February blahs. And I've tried very hard to add at least something of value to all my posts, even if it is an attempt to make others laugh. I have no idea what banter is going on in the thread you mention, but anything that starts off in the negative won't get my attention this month. (I'll wait until it's income tax time or some other really happy season)

Don't judge it by its title. Jump in about here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/172-pentax-k-3/239325-why-i-wont-buy-k3-30.html#post2568471
It's one of the most positive, upbeat, rut-busting threads on the forum. Nearly 6,000 posts and going strong.

Absolutely. The only one I won't throw out of it is my cat.
Aw, that's sweet. That's me and my girl cat too. She's the only one I allow to take my desk chair when I am not using it, and sometimes if she is I use the laptop for a while rather than disturb her nap. She has her own pillow on my bed too. She's a little spoiled. As for contest. I'm not trying. If it happens, it happens. If not I'm still here doing what I do, trying to help people when I can and having a little fun reading and learning some stuff myself.

So that's where the P&R discussions went.

I have it my best effort today, and now that today is tomorrow I can say I tried, but came up short.

Sometimes you just have to walk away and deal with the rest of your life. At some stage it gets to be more about getting likes than posting, and there isn't much you can do about that unless you coordinated with another member. I'm not even worrying about the contest today or even coming close to the top 12.

Nor am I. I have a couple entries, so if I win I win, though the odds say not.

Forget about winning. Ain't gonna happen.

Think about the power you possess in the mouse click on that thumb.

Very early in the contest I posted my philosophy. I go through periods where I post a LOT (as most here know and many wish I wouldn't) but I post what I post - not to win a contest.

I think I've only been in the top twenty 4 or 5 times and I think one Raffle Entry. Big whoop. I out of fewer than 400 is actually decent odds - better than Powerball, for sure.

I've got the Powerball in the bag.

The perpetually bad weather here in the northeast US is one reason I have been posting a lot this month, nothing to do with chasing the contest. I suppose that if there wasn't a contest going on, then I would probably win it.
