Was directed here , from a friend who mentioned a contest.Humm, seems like these Dansamy, 2photos and Racer x 69 blokes has already earned all of the grand prizes. might as well not even try.

Well, that's probably best since:
A: You don't have an understanding of the rules. (The grand prizes haven't been awarded yet.)
B: You are actually another forum member who has registered a second account, in violation of forum rules, so you could further express your discontent with the contest. (See my post above regarding trolls.)

I'm kind of confused - I've received 3 likes today and yet in the contest it says I've not got any. Do the likes have to be on posts I've made today?

Yes, that's how it's set up at the moment.

Multiple Likes from the same member only count as one like (each day)
You must have at least 1 Like for every 5 posts in order to be awarded points for any post

Somewhere is also says that a like for a post prior to the current day does not count in the daily score calculation, but I can't find it now.

But the rules do say that the contest rules are subject to change. Meaning that if there's a way to manipulate the contest to skew it unfairly, it can be changed to fix that.
