Seems about right. The big announcements will be at Photokina.

Having Pentax be the the brand for ILCs makes sense, having having 2 brands for a dying class of camera does not.

Here we go.

Good luck Ricoh on taking over a known Pentax product line with your name.
Get ready for consumers to be confused, and a tanking of an already tenuous product line.

As, I sit and look at my brand new GoPro Hero3+ to take over from the last 4 Optio WR models that I have owned.

Well having a product to compete with GoPro Hero would be great, since that has more future.

Yep. Instead of Ricoh "taking over" an existing brand, how about something "new"?

I could not ignore the Hero 3+ with 4k video and other features and mounting options.

I thought about another WG Optio, but the Hero does more.

Sorry Pentax.

If the new WG's add RAW capability I'll be more interested.

I'm hoping that if there is a followup to the MX-1 that it will not be branded a Ricoh primarily and that the Pentax name will sit on its front gloriously. But Pentax is K mount, and I don't mind Pentax being DSLR/SLR/Mirrorless only. It reminds me of the Asahi days.
+1 on RAW capability. I think that should be a standard feature on all cameras - period. Let the user decide on what to save. Those pixels belong to me!

Mr Kawauchi of Ricoh Imaging told in an interview some time ago that famous Pentax lines of cameras, and he mentioned Q, WG, DSLRs, will NOT be rebranded as Ricoh. Now they do it.
So, he was either lying, or they are still totally confused, disoriented and changing plans constantly.

So how long until we get a drive-by "Why I won't buy a WG!" Thread?

Well, it's just a reply and not a new thread, but it's a start.

From your own post of 08/14/2013:

Pentax is there to stay.

In his own (translated) words:
– Yes, Pentax will always exist at the product level,
– In the future, in the professional field's name is still a Pentax.

Thus I believe we can at least relax regarding those two issues, especially in the wake of recent website address changes. Personally I'm glad to hear that clear confirmation.

However, I have understood from the interview that some non-system, *compact* cameras are still under question re exact branding. They may be branded either as Pentax or Ricoh. Which isn't any news, really, because that same issue was stated a while ago. (my emphasis)

Pentax is committed to K-mount, Q and 645. see paragraph 11
